ADHD Task Breakdown & Focus

When a task feels too big to start, NextStep breaks it into small, doable steps and shows you only the next one — so you can finally begin.

Made for ADHD brains and anyone stuck in task paralysis, NextStep turns one overwhelming task into a handful of tiny physical steps ("pebbles"). Then it hides the whole list and puts a single step in front of you at a time. No mountain to stare at. Just the next pebble.

HOW IT WORKS
• Type the big thing you're avoiding — "clean the whole kitchen", "do the taxes"
• Break it into 5 to 8 small, physical steps you can actually start
• Enter focus mode: one step, full screen, nothing else
• Tap Done, and the next step gently slides in
• Finish the whole thing, one step at a time

WHY IT HELPS WHEN A TO-DO LIST DOESN'T
• Single-step focus — you never see the full list while you work, so there's nothing to feel overwhelmed by
• A calm focus timer — a gentle body-doubling sprint, not an anxious ticking clock
• Reorder freely — put the easiest step first to build momentum
• Skip for now — move a step to the end without guilt when you're not ready
• A warm finish — a small celebration when you complete the whole task
• A daily nudge — an optional reminder to break one thing into pebbles today

BUILT TO STAY OUT OF YOUR WAY
• No account and no sign-up — open it and start
• Works fully offline — your tasks stay on your device
• No ads anywhere in the app

MADE FOR
• Adults with ADHD who freeze when a task is big or vague
• Anyone facing executive-function overwhelm or task-initiation paralysis
• Students, parents, and remote workers who need help getting started, not another planner

NextStep isn't a planner or a project board. It does one thing: it gets you to the first physical action, and then the next. Break it down, focus on one step, and let the momentum carry you.

Recent changes:
Fixed: the daily nudge arrived at the wrong time of day. It was scheduled in UTC rather than your own time zone, so it could show up hours early or late. It now arrives when you expect it.

Also includes the earlier fix for the step counter freezing after you skip a step.
