L’app té com a objectiu recollir dades sobre els fenòmens que afecten la salut dels nostres boscos i està vinculada a la plataforma de ciència ciutadana “Alerta Forestal” que treballa per crear una comunitat activa de ciutadans i ciutadanes que ajudin enviant fotos de paisatge dels boscos afectats per alguna de les alertes (#processionària, #sequera, #erugaboix, #ventada, #nevada) i valorar-ne l’estat de salut del bosc. En funció de la importància de l’afectació es promouen diferents alertes al llarg de l’any. El projecte Alerta Forestal pretén ser un sistema d’alertes primerenques que ajudi als investigadors i les investigadores a valorar l’estat de salut actual dels boscos catalans, per preveure l’estat de salut actual i futur d’aquests boscos emprant models de simulació i tenint en compte el canvi climàtic i altres canvis ambientals que s’estan produint a escala global i local.
