Aoo: English Shadowing

Want to practice listening and speaking with content you love?
From YouTube videos and podcasts to your own MP3 files, Aoo turns the content you enjoy into your own language-learning material. Use subtitles and translations to understand the meaning, then listen and repeat one sentence at a time.

■ Shadowing in the language you want to learn
Try English shadowing, Korean shadowing or Japanese shadowing with your favorite content. You can also practice listening and speaking with audio in Chinese, Spanish and French.

■ Turn videos and audio into learning material
Start with a topic that interests you or a speaker you enjoy. Use videos, podcasts and MP3 files to practice one sentence at a time, as often as you need.

■ Follow along with subtitles and translations
Check subtitles when you cannot catch a sentence, and translations when an expression is hard to understand. Follow the original text and its meaning together.

■ Listen and speak at your own pace
Listen, repeat aloud and play back your recorded voice. Slow down fast sentences and repeat difficult passages to get familiar with pronunciation and rhythm.

■ Listen closely with dictation
Choose the words you hear to complete a sentence. Notice words you might otherwise miss and give each sentence your full attention.
