ArxSilex MapTools brings online/offline maps, GPS/GNSS, tracking, route planning, bearings, terrain analysis, and projects together on Android. Compass, satellite status, BLE groups, Remote ID, and AR/LiveView depend on device support.
Maps, services & offline work
Local map, POI, and elevation data is managed in slots/profiles, including on-device, SD, or USB storage.
HTTPS sources for XYZ, OSGeo-TMS, WMS, WMTS, and OGC API Tiles/Maps serve as basemaps or overlays. Capabilities/XML supports testing and WMS/WMTS repair. OGC API Features/WFS provides read-only layers and search by source, category, and radius. InfoTap/GetFeatureInfo reports can be copied, shared, or saved as TXT/PDF. Supported CRSs are reprojected locally.
Offline Mode blocks MapTools internet access. Separate Google/OSM blocks keep custom services available. Radio Silence stops the app's own Wi-Fi/BLE, Remote ID, and group functions; local tools remain available.
External data and map styles are not included. The provider sets costs, registration, licensing, attribution, and caching rules.
GPS, navigation & objects
Place markers by tap/crosshair and manage POIs, routes, tracks, bearings, circles, areas, and search grids. Coordinate formats, position averaging, POI search, and the object browser/filters support fieldwork. Images, PDFs, audio, and notes can be assigned to objects/projects and optionally exported.
Routes can be planned, edited, followed, monitored, and started freely on loops. The routing source is selectable. Daylight forecasts use elevation profiles, grade, personal pace, local times/time zones, and mark light transitions.
Tracking stores distance, times, pauses, GPX segments, statistics, and GPS/GNSS/RTK quality. Profiles/intervals control recording. Interrupted tracks are restored; their end can be corrected by map, point, or time.
Bearing/cross-bearing tools provide direction, distance, intersection, quality, and accuracy range. Resumable search grids, coverage strips, and areas support planning/documentation. Elevation data provides profiles, hillshade, contours, and view ranges. Offline astronomy shows the Sun, Moon phases, twilight, planets, and stars on the map.
Object alarms & background location
While the app is visible, alarms monitor markers, circles, areas, and routes with configurable signaling, snooze/stop. Enabled marker/circle alarms may use precise location while the app is closed; Google Play services monitor the geofence locally. The app does not send location to its own servers, use it for ads/usage analytics, or create an alarm location history.
Import, export & projects
Import GPX, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, ArcGIS/Esri JSON, CSV/TSV/TXT, Shapefile and map ZIPs, Mapsforge maps/POIs, MBTiles, GeoPackage, GeoTIFF, and HGT, ASC, or DTED elevation data. Known CRSs are converted to WGS84; others are rejected. Large datasets run in the background and use database-backed processing. Updates retain slots and settings.
Export projects as .asmaps and data as GPX, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, CSV, QR code, or report. Backups use .asmaps.backup. Attachments are optional; backups/compressed QR codes can be password protected. Credentials are encrypted; passwords, API keys, and tokens are not backed up.
Privacy & Pro
Your data stays local until you export, share, or go online. MapTools requires no MapTools account, shows no ads, uses no analytics or ad-tracking services, and creates no usage profiles. Pro features or higher limits require a one-time Google Play unlock.
Notes
Accuracy and availability depend on the device, sensors, reception, Android, permissions, and data source. MapTools does not replace official maps, incident command, aviation approvals, safety procedures, or professional navigation in critical situations.
