R2Mail2 Provides s/mime digital signing and encryption of email on android (works with standard certs issued by an authority). It works.

I have found this to be an excellent email program since installing it back in 2014. No app is perfect and there are one or two niggles, but it covers smime encryption well, handles multiple email accounts in both POP and IMAP form. Well worth it.

Fantastic secure mail client This is easily the best mail client I have ever used on Android, PGP/mime support is perfect and easy to use too. Really great client.

Should be able to import my ca.pem file. On pc, thunderbird imports my certificate authority ca.pem file and then my p12 file. R2mail2 will not accept the certificate authority file, but has an accept self-signed option which I suppose gets the job done. Worse problem is that I received an S/MIME signed email, the key gets into the keystore, but I can not send encrypted email back to that user. R2mail2 complains it can not find a key for the email address, but the email address is clearly in the key.

Let's encrypt certificates not working? "Certificate chain not valid - cannot find trusted root" No problems with Thunderbird, K-9 Mail and Airmail.

OAuth2 authentication does not work under Android 13. Yet another example of a harassed email client under Android. It is a mystery to me why nobody seems to be willing to develop a solid email client under Android that supports S/MIME encryption and OAuth2 authentication.

Can't add more than one account and e-mails show up as random plain text. The description doesn't state this demo can handle only one account, nor does the description of the license key, so it's obviously a bug. Whenever I try to add a second account, at the very end I can't choose draft, trash, etc. folders and when I create the account without those, it won't show up anywhere, it just gets lost. Also, now that I've tried adding a second account, the first stopped working properly, too. The messages show up as random-like plain text. And in the settings this message waits me: "cannot read stored application settings - please reinstall R2Mail2". I've sent error reports... but as far as my experiences with Android application support go I don't really expect anything. It worked for days, I wanted to buy it, but I'm glad I haven't bought the license key just yet, probably I'd have just thrown my money out of the window.
