WHAT ONE PHOTO GIVES YOU
• The most likely signer, named as a resemblance, never as a verdict
• An estimated value as a tight range, for example $40 - $120
• The item carrying it: photo, ball, book, card, jersey or puck
• The signing medium: ballpoint, felt-tip, paint pen, fountain pen, pencil
• Any inscription, date or jersey number, reproduced as written
• The field and era the signer belongs to, and the condition of the ink
• The letterforms a comparison rests on: slant, loops, pen lifts
• Anything offered as evidence of origin, kept as a claim
• The steps that would settle it, most decisive first
• The rival reading, with the test that decides between the two
THE VALUE LEADS THE RESULT
You are in a garage with an inherited box, or at a card show with a seller waiting, so the estimated value sits directly under the proposed signer. It is a tight band, not a span wide enough to always be right. That figure is what a comparable authenticated example of that signature, on that item, in that condition sells for. It is not an appraisal of your item.
IT NAMES THE OTHER READING
Every result carries the rival explanation for the same marks and the test that separates them. An autopen. A rubber stamp. A printed or facsimile signature under the gloss. A secretarial or clubhouse signing. A different player on the same roster. Where the photo cannot resolve which one you hold, the app says so, lowers its confidence and names the test. A certificate in your photo is an unverified claim to take back to its issuer, never proof. When the letters are illegible you get the field and the era, not an invented name.
WHAT COLLECTORS PHOTOGRAPH
A signed glossy photo. A baseball on the sweet spot. A hardcover signed on its title page. A jersey, a hockey puck, a vinyl sleeve, a trading card, a cut, a letter, a poster. Sports memorabilia, celebrity photos, music and literature read the same way: the strokes first, then the item and its context, then the pen. No loupe and no light box: a phone photo of a signed card on a kitchen table is what this autograph identifier reads.
ASK ABOUT WHAT YOU JUST SCANNED
Every result opens a conversation about signatures, items, provenance and the authentication process: what an autopen looks like beside a pen-signed example, why an inscription moves a price, what to ask a seller.
YOUR SCANS, KEPT
Every reading is saved on your device with its photograph, so a whole box can be worked through one item at a time and a saved reading opens later. No account.
WHO IT IS FOR
• Anyone who inherited a signed ball, photo or box of programs
• Card and memorabilia collectors wanting a first read
• Buyers and sellers at a show, a flea market or an online listing
• Book and record collectors with signed first editions
HONEST ABOUT WHAT A PHOTO CAN DO
This app is an AI reading of the signature in your photo. It cannot authenticate a signature, and no photograph can. Autopen, printed and facsimile signatures, rubber stamps, secretarial signings and skilled forgeries can look identical in an image, so the app names the signer as a resemblance, names the alternative reading, and tells you what would settle it. It will not call anything a forgery either. The estimated value is what a comparable authenticated example sells for, not an appraisal of your item, and market ranges move. Before you buy or sell, use a third-party authentication service and check any certificate directly with whoever issued it.
Reading a signature needs an internet connection. Readings you have already saved stay on your device and open again at any time.
The app interface and the results are available in 33 languages.
