Good for trail hiking Good for mapping a day hike, doesn't hog the battery. Wish more features (like charts, times) were in the app and not just on the website.

Hard to figure out People say it's easy to use, maybe I'm just not as smart as I thought I was, but I found it really difficult to figure out how to use this app. No directionson how to use the app that I know of. I'm figuring it out, but slowly. Great to have the maps and gps tracker with me on hikes. Would be 5 stars if I knew I was using it fully.

Can't search I paid for the pro version of this app and when I go to try and search for trips from the app it keeps telling me internal server error

Frustrated I purchased the APP to run on my Samsung S4 Active and installed the product and bought the 69.99 Topo maps from this vendor for a trip to Arches Natl park for miles of hiking and trails we were going to cover last weekend. After I installed the product it appeared to work ok. I ran a test to see if it would track and save the pathway and it did. I loaded the Topo's on my SD card in the folder as instructed and set it aside for the hike. Once there I started the APP in our ascent up to delicate arch, once at the top I took some pictures so that they would be tagged. The last picture caused the app to hang, then I stopped and restarted the app and it picked up the active hike I was on. I put it in my front pocket and began my descent. Once at the bottom the app had frozen only a few feet from the point at which I put it in my pocket. This time, I was unable to stop the app or do anything with the phone so I had to reboot it. When the phone came back up, I looked for the active trail and path data I had recorded and it was nowhere to be found. 3 miles and 2200 feet of climb and path data gone. $75 that I could have put toward a REAL GPS not an APP that is subpar at best.

completely unreliable I paid for the "pro" version and have tried to use it several times. Most of the time I get an error message "unfortunately backpacker gps has stopped working." I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, which does not help. When it does work, the tracking is highly erratic, showing a very inaccurate map. The only stats it shows, if any, are time and distance. The distance is incorrect because the mapping is so far off. I have run it simultaneously with MyTracks and MapMy Hike to double check and on known routes and it is completely off. The interface is not intuitive. You have to go through several screens to start tracking. Total waste of $4.99, plus time and aggravation of trying to use it.
