An invaluable resource for any backcountry activity. With the Elite status I can determine who owns which private property. As a land manager/planner, this is like having access to the municipal GIS without the need for internet connection. The new layer with dispersed camping locations is informative as well, though I do have some concern it might lead to additional population pressure, much like social media has for so many tourist locations. Customer service has always been exceptional.

This app accesses land ownership records, topology, trails, and categories other than hiking, such as climbing, skiing, and mountain biking permitted areas. I got a deep discount on an elite membership and the app paid for itself after one night of camping in dispersed public BLM land rather than paying for a private campsite.

Glitchy, do NOT trust it!! Pay for the elite membership and the offline maps stopped working, routes not appearing, can't click points of interest. At one point it was just entirely blank. I contacted support, and they gave me a weak excuse and BLAMED ME for having too large of maps, or maybe the map wasn't downloaded, etc. Insulting and frustrating after using the app for several years. Gross 🤢. Do better OnX.

I went on a 6-day backpacking trip and had many routes loaded into the phone. When I got there on day 1 and put my phone (pixel 8) into airplane mode/battery saver, ALL my routes disappeared from the app. No amount of hiding/re-hiding/messing with settings would bring them back. On day 3, they came back for a few hours and then promptly disappeared again. This is unacceptable for an app that is used for navigating the wilderness and could very easily turn into a life-threatening situation.

Complete garbage if you're a backpacker. won't tell you water sources or campsites, and has some trails marked in blue so at first they look like water sources. However you CAN check how cell coverage is based on your provider 🤦‍♀️ for all its flaws, far out is far superior! Onx is clearly designed by people who do day hikes at the most. 👎👎
