Tons of trails to choose from, make it a day or find a hiking trail nearby. This app is easy to use and doesn't kill your data with ads.

I switched from OnX Hunt that I used for years without a problem across the country, recording all my tracks. OnX Backcountry has yet to finish recording any of my hikes. I get halfway through a 6-7 mile hike and get an error notice saying track has stopped recording. I click Resume and all of a sudden everything crashes and the tracking stops. It's been two months and over 25 miles of hikes, and I don't have a record of one of them because they all failed and dropped.

This app does not support metric units. Gave it a try on trial cause of Gaia curse was haunting me, but with no metric units, this app is not usable outside of US. onX app looks decent, but lack of this one basic feature is a dealbreaker. Trying Caltrop next. Too bad, I was excited about a good app for few hours. I already changed the settings, but topo maps are still in feet.

Glitchy, do NOT trust it!! Pay for the elite membership and the offline maps stopped working, routes not appearing, can't click points of interest. At one point it was just entirely blank. I contacted support, and they gave me a weak excuse and BLAMED ME for having too large of maps, or maybe the map wasn't downloaded, etc. Insulting and frustrating after using the app for several years. Gross 🤢. Do better OnX.

I pay for the premium membership, $35/year. Every time I open the app I get endless requests to upgrade to the $100/year plan. If I leave the app open and go to chrome another ad to upgrade. Go from my maps to my saved trails and an ad to upgrade. Unbearable
