Description
Bankaroo is a virtual bank for kids, helping them manage their allowance, gifts, and chore money.
Created in 2011 by 11-year-old Dani, Bankaroo is helping hundreds of thousands of kids around the world manage their funds and become money-smart.
Using gamification and a simple, bright interface, Bankaroo helps parents teach their kids the value of money. Both parents and kids have access to the kids’ accounts, where kids can save up for goals and earn badges and parents can track where their kids’ money is invested. Kids can even earn interest on their savings!
Bankaroo Plus (available as a one-time in-app purchase for $4.99) adds features like checking, savings, and charity accounts and gives you the ability to transfer money between siblings and between accounts.
Key features for kids: ================= - Get an account where you can make sure your parents routinely give you allowance
- Record every expense you made, and always know how much you have.
- Save up for more expensive goals like games and toys. You’ll get a cool badge when you reach your goal!
- Set recurring payments for things like online memberships.
Key features for parents: =================
- Get your kids a recurring allowance or add funds to their account manually.
- Your kids will know if they have enough in their account for the things they want to purchase.

Just what we've been looking for so long! So many other apps try to hone in the money being real as a feature, which is irrelevant to most kids. We wanted a way for them to visually see the money they'd earned from birthdays, chores and pocket money, and to see the power that compound interest can have on their savings. What a great app; thank you to the creators!

Great option to provide your child with "virtual pocket money" and to begin understanding the value of money. It's a no bells and whistles solution to pocket money - and as long as you are "invested" (*wink*) in the process, it does the basics well. Set up an automatic allowance and then when your child wants to spend "their" money, perform a debit against their account using the app, or online. I'd say this works best with young kids where they don't actually need to "have" money - just understand it exists, its value and how pocket money works. It's rough around the edges, but it works well for us.

I bought this version wanting to upgrade to Kangaroo Plus because I primarily wanted checking, saving and donation. I was willing to pay the whole $8, but the app won't let me access the Plus version. So it's completely useless to me. I wrote to report the bug but didn't get any answer. It's really disappointing. This app would have saved me time.

I went to download the app, which had 2 versions: Student & Family. Student was free (assuming for the Child or student using the app) & the Family app had $2.99 cost. I did purchase thinking this was the upgrade to Kangaroo Plus Edition. After purchase, I noticed that was incorrect. There is an additional fee of $4.99, for the plus edition upgrade, a total of $8. I knew the upgrade was a cost, but I wish it was more clear on the website.
