Wonderful game, but it will NEVER replace the tabletop version. Does anyone else miss the assembling and painting of YOUR OWN fleet? How about the excitement of seeing a beautifully kit-bashed 'nid fleet being placed on the table? And don't forget the community of talented and creative players that you TALKED with and had take-out with over a good game. No, this is no replacement and BFG needs to be restored as a true Tabletop game. But yes, it is an excellent mobile game. We'll done GW. Now that you see we're still here, please bring our game back.

Altogether, a pretty good stab at the table top game. A few small glitches detract from the overall game play, but are not serious enough that they keep the game from being enjoyable and will hopefully be eliminated in further updates. The two biggest issues at this point are the lack of other fleets, like the Orks or Eldar (or the Necrons!) and the need to slightly tweak the number generator for dice rolls. The dice issue is the more serious problem, especially for newcomers to the game, as it can be extremely frustrating to have two dozen torpedoes hit a target and do zero damage due to a flaky dice roll. Also, rolls to pass through dangerous terrain, like asteroid fields, seem to favor the Tryanids vs. the Imperium or Space Marines. Some minor wishes would be an option to speed up enemy movement turns (which can really slow down game play), an option to move entire squadrons with one command (which I know is not part of the rules but would speed game play), and some minor tweaks to graphics, like turret fire. Anyway, Battlefleet Gothic: Leviathan has to potential to be one of the best transitions of a GW game into the computer medium ever...if they can overcome they flaws listed above. Kudos to Grand Cauldron for such a good port to the tablet and phone.

Expensive DLC for a tablet game? No thanks. I was reading the dev diarys and looked forward to the exterminatus expansion. When it finally arrived I was shocked to see it was more expensive than the original game.

[edit] Lowered score; the current version of the game is broken. AI processing stalls in their Shooting phase in the mission "Arenos Karlaen". Yet to have a response from Grand Cauldron support email. The devs have also removed the 'continue play' feature which was vital for bypassing similar stalled AI bugs. [original review] A few bugs aside, it's a faithful interpretation of the tabletop game. Campaign is OK, though the unscripted battles are repetitive & the campaign map mechanics rather bland and simplistic. If it were fleshed out such that fleets & ship condition were persistent, it'd be far more compelling (Total War but more restricted movement). Tyranids are an odd choice for the antagonists; they're completely lacking personality and their fleets are characterless too. I look forward to more interesting race DLCs.

Edit: Had to down rate, it's so not cool when promises are broken. When dev makes paid for game with no paid dlc, only to make free the game you paid for and then charge for dlc. Was loving the game, still am, but bitterly disappointed in this bs.
