blabber.im is a fork of Conversations with some changes, to improve usability.
Connection security and the protection of personal data are very important for us, so we enforce encrypted connections between messenger and server, making it almost impossible to intercept and read your messages by strangers. If that's not enough for you, end-to-end message encryption such as OMEMO or OpenPGP can be used. This allows messages to be encrypted on the sending device and decrypted only by the receiving device intended for reception.

Few comments: -Why are permissions required, I mean, without granting them, the program shuts down. Why can't I decide myself whether or not I want particular features which require permissions? Xabber doesn't require any permission and works like a charm,I only wish it had QR-reader (yes, camera would need to be allowed) -I don't get notifications, even though I should have the settings right. Maybe because I used Xabber (who does send notifications) at the same time?

This is THE XMPP client that has all the features and options you want. While I want to give credit to Conversations, which this app is based on, I would have to say blabber.im has way surpassed that in regards to the UI and options they make available for you. They may be subtle, like automatically downloading media in MUCs, but even something like that makes the experience of participating in a MUC more direct and informational. Thanks to the devs for all their work.

There is no way to quit this app other than going through your phone settings, searching through the long list of stuff and killing the process. That's pretty bad usability for a chat app that causes notifications and drains battery quickly. When I notified the developer about this problem, they closed the ticket without any interest.

At first this app was great. I signed up with a new account using the native blabber.im service. However, it no longer connects and it looks like that type of connection has been removed as of the last release? I can't even connect to the support channels because...it's a chat. Which i can't connect to. Fail.
