REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
1) An NFC-enabled Android phone (with Android 8 or later). 2) An email address. 3) One of the following Canadian government-issued photo IDs associated with your address: ○ Driver’s licence ○ Photo ID card, or ○ Services card 4) Be physically close enough to the address associated with your photo ID card when you register. 5) Recommended: passport to increase your Identity Assurance Level (IAL) and likelihood of passing identity verification. Your IAL conveys a level of confidence that your digital identity is your real identity. A higher IAL enables your identity to be trusted by more services.

INTRODUCTION
eID-Me is a secure digital identity app. eID-Me digitizes and securely stores government-issued identity and self-managed identity information on your Android phone.
eID-Me makes online identity verification quicker, easier, and more secure by eliminating passwords and strengthening privacy.
eID-Me cannot currently be used as a substitute for legal identification. Our goal is to improve access to services that require verified identity, including government, financial, health care, and more.

HOW IT WORKS
During registration, use your Android phone to prove your identity by taking a selfie with liveness check, and scanning your government-issued photo identity documents (e.g., driver’s licence, passport). Your Android phone is then issued a unique eID-Me digital identity, which includes a digital certificate with identity claims (verified pieces of information about you).
You can then use your eID-Me digital identity to easily access services and securely share identity information in identity transactions both online and offline (in person).
PRIVACY AND SECURITY
Your identity information is always in your possession on your Android phone. It is never hosted by a centralized service or third-party provider or stored in the cloud. Once your identity information is verified, a secure certificate is installed on your phone. That information is not accessible to anyone but you, until you choose to share it in an identity transaction.
eID-Me’s digital wallet is protected on the Android phone with strong encryption, leveraging its hardware security mechanisms, and is bound to your authentication method (e.g., Face Unlock, Fingerprint Unlock, PIN).

Updated the app on my phone, and it marked all my credit cards as expired. I get the Expired Card pop-up every time I open the app - I have to touch the popup about a dozen times to clear it. Update: I ended up clearing all data to start again from scratch with the latest version. Funnily enough, I don't see the option to add credit cards anymore, so I assume that feature was taken away some time with an update. Restoring two stars since I probably should have updated the app first.

Camera will not focus when trying to take a photo of my ID or passport. I have already tested my camera app which works without issue, I have cleaned the lens, changed the lighting, etc. Whenever I try to take a photo and to match the outline as per the instructions, the camera will go out of focus when trying to scan my ID. Again, my camera app will work without problem, but in this app it will not, and I'm unable to tap the screen to focus the camera as you would be able to in other apps.

If you upload ID with different gender markers, the app will in fact overwrite your gender markers on any other ID you might have uploaded i.e. say you have two IDs with gender M and you upload one that is gender X the other two will magically become gender X to match - this is a pretty egregious error that does not make the app very friendly to the gender-diverse I tried explaining this via email but either they didn't understand the problem or didn't deem it important (which it absolutely is)
