Great to have no ads or AI readers. I only use Borrow Box for audiobooks as I can find it difficult to read these days. It can take a while for your reserved story to come around, but I alternate it with YouTube, and it's lovely when it does arrive. A more responsive search engine would be good as I haven't found an easy way to search by genre.

Love this app as a new reader! Easy to use and a great way to support local libraries. Customer support has been quick and impressive as well. One improvement I'd like is auto-dark mode for evening reading rather than having to change it manually. As others have said, book choice can be limited depending on your local library. I know I can suggest books for adding with my local authority, but it would be great if this could be done in app for ease.

First reviewed in 2022 and nothing has changed. This is a pretty basic app and the worst. The speed of play is not adjustable, either 100, 75 or 125, when other speeds are needed in between. Unlike Libby, when I book on hold is available you can't suspend your hold. So when you suddenly have 4 books, you have to keep them instead of letting someone else read it knowing you will be next. You can search for books you read. Sleep timer is too small, and you have to stop it before resetting it.

Very frustrating that app downloads entire book immediately. I have looked in my phone settings and in the app to prevent this from happening. If I want to prevent an entire book from downloading I have to restrict mobile data use on my entire phone, rather than just for this one app. Please add this BASIC feature. Some of us can't afford to chew through data.

My library recently switched from Press Reader which was excellent to Borrow Box which is so clunky and unintuitive in comparison. Sure, I get the same magazines but now rather than having new issues on one page, I have to scroll down a list looking for New issues. Worse still, zooming in to anything less that 100% renders the text a little blurry. So yes, Borrow Box is useable but a very poor relation to Press Reader. OK, maybe I'm being churlish as it is free, but so was Press Reader!
