Description by Perry Mitchell(from Google Play)
Buttercup is an open-source password manager, available on all major platforms. It helps you track and store your login information for any service you use - personal or for work - in a securely encrypted vault that you store where you want.
Buttercup vaults contain groups and entries so that you can easily manage your login credentials. There’s also a desktop application and browser extension available, so you can access your vaults and credentials on every platform you use.
All information stored within Buttercup vaults is private and encrypted - available only to those with your master password. Keep this password secret and don’t use it for any other login! Once you have your login details stored within Buttercup, you can concentrate on remembering only the 1 password (for Buttercup) - all other passwords can be long, gibberish text to increase security, and you don’t have to remember them!
Buttercup’s features (non-exhaustive): - 2FA/OTP (TOTP) ingestion and display - Store an unlimited number of login details - Save your vault to a variety of storage providers - Save your vaults locally to the device - Open sites stored within the app by the touch of a button - Open vaults auto-lock and close after 10 minutes of inactivity - Vault contents hidden when app is put to background - Ability to add multiple vaults - Autofill passwords for login forms
Buttercup is designed to be used with free-to-use cloud storage providers, such as Dropbox, Google Drive and WebDAV-enabled services.
No information regarding you or your vault is sent to us or any other service.
Recent changes: Fixed Google Drive authentication. Removed overly-permissive Google Drive auth option.

5 stars for desktop app, but the mobile app literally does everything but the one thing I actually want it to do. In the present state It's useless without giving your passwords to the cloud. The only reason I selected buttercup over other password managers is that it is offline. Until this app can read local .bcup files I have for my laptop and desktop I consider it broken and does not deliver what the desktop version does, it can't even create local .bcup archives.

I'm just starting to use this app. It seems like it has potential. Still, it seems like it's in a rough stage, as the UI is really rough. I do like the main homepage and the way the vault looks, though. I don't know if it's just me, but there is no import or export feature while using the local vault. I think having a local vault is a plus, and a reason to get this app. There are no other native open source password managers apps on iOS or Android that have full offline vault support (no cloud).

Looks like they fixed the offline issue! Great to have an open source password manager!

Can't use local vault file, created on desktop version. I'll redact the review if this is due to my old Android version
★☆☆☆☆Ramon Henrique· Jan 18, 2022
The Google Drive authentication is no longer working. And my old vaults were lost with the new update

Desktop app is great. This version. . .Google Drive folder access is bugged and the beta local file use is junk. Why doesn't local actually use the regular folders?
★☆☆☆☆Freddy _· Aug 26, 2020
Only reads cloud files! This needs the same desktop function to access local files! Or else why not go with any of the other competition
