By Miles is the UK’s first pay-by-mile car insurance policy.
We believe in a fairer, more flexible kind of car insurance, so we won’t charge you for the miles you don’t drive. With us, a fixed annual cost covers your car while it’s parked, then you just pay for the miles you drive each month.
Once you’ve taken out one of our fully comprehensive policies, plug our matchbox-sized Miles Tracker into your car, download this app and hit the road. Alternatively, if you've got a newer car that's connected to the web, you may be able to go totally trackerless - and we'll just read your miles directly from your car's mileometer.
FAIRER PRICING Your car’s covered by your fixed annual cost while it’s parked, then you get a unique per-mile rate to cover your driving. Simple as that.
TOTAL TRANSPARENCY Instantly see the exact cost of your miles in-app, with itemised monthly bills. Access all of your driving data whenever you want.
EASIER TO MANAGE Stay in complete control with useful reports and reminders to cater for all your driving needs. Use tools like ‘Car Medic’ to diagnose issues with your car’s mechanics* or ‘Find My Car’** to locate your motor in confusingly large car parks.

Please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. The By Miles app requires data access and works best with GPS/location turned on (for tools like ‘Find My Car’ or ‘Journey Estimate’). However, it’s not necessary to have your GPS/location services switched on for the policy to work and you’ll still be able to view your journeys, providing you have an active internet connection.

Ok still cannot leave sensor plugged in as it still drains battery overnight. When I disconnect sensor the battery lasts for days and starts vehicle without problem. The returns you are getting are a hundred percent accurate as sensor is reconnected to the car circuit as soon as car turned on. Spent lots of money on technicians in the past without any success. I've had the app for a couple of months now. 9 times out of 10 it hangs. I've found a workaround though. If I'm on Wi-Fi. I turn Wi-Fi off and the app opens on my mobile network. Improvement definitely needed developers.
