is hard-wrapped at 76 columns so it reads in a terminal; Play keeps every
newline you give it and never reflows the text, so pasting this version
would break a line every 76 characters on the store page. The other file is
the same words with each paragraph on one line, which is what the Console
wants: blank lines between paragraphs, headings alone, one bullet per line.
Chess PGN Analyzer runs a chess engine over your own games and tells you,
move by move, what happened.
Paste a PGN, type a FEN, or share a game in from another app. The analyzer
plays through it with Stockfish and marks every move: book, good, great,
inaccuracy, mistake or blunder, with the evaluation before and after and the
move the engine would have played instead.
SHARE A GAME IN FROM ANYWHERE
Chess PGN Analyzer appears in the share sheet of any app that can send text.
A PGN, a FEN or a link to a game on a chess site travels into the app in two
taps — no copying, no retyping, no export step. The import screen opens
already filled in. Finished a game somewhere else? Send it over and look at
it properly.
SEE WHERE THE GAME TURNED
The moves run in one strip under the board, with the current move in the
centre and its neighbours either side. Beneath it, the engine's verdict on
that move and the move it would have preferred. An evaluation bar beside the
board tracks who stands better, and the captured pieces sit on one line
above it, so the material balance is visible at a glance.
KNOW YOUR OPENING
Openings are named as you step through the game. One tap opens a page about
the opening you played — how often it is played and how it scores — with
three similar openings to compare it against.
PLAY IT OUT YOURSELF
At any point in a game you can take over the board and play the move you
wish you had found. The engine grades it the same way, tells you what it
would have preferred, and a single button swaps your move for its own. Undo,
reset, and carry on from wherever you like.
SET UP ANY POSITION
Start from a FEN instead of a game, or from the standard position, and play
against the engine's suggestions to test an idea. Copy any position back out
as a FEN, or the line you played as a PGN.
ANALYSIS ON YOUR TERMS
Analysis runs on the device by default, at a search depth you choose.
Divergence moves — the ones you play yourself — have their own, quicker
setting, because a single move should not keep you waiting. Account holders
can switch the engine to our server for deeper analysis; positions are sent
only while that runs, and it can be turned off at any time.

Recent changes:
Moves are now one strip under the board. The current move sits in the centre with its neighbours beside it, and the engine's verdict is on the line below.
New: links to the opening you are playing and to three similar openings. They open pages on chessanalyzer.app with how often each opening is played and how it scores.
The board is bigger on small phones, and both players' captured pieces now share one line above the board.
