"Chronicon Apocalyptica" is a 250,000-word interactive medieval fantasy novel by Robert Davis. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
You are an Anglo-Saxon scribe in the year 1000. You hold a Book of secrets written generations ago, including this prophecy: "When Æthelred II is King, he shall not be King, but there shall be an elven changeling in his stead. Should it gain this book and its ink, the world he shall rend asunder."
The witan advisors to Æthelred have tasked you with a secret mission to research whether the Book is true. Build an unlikely party of adventurers: a nun, a holy warrior, a bard, a beekeeper, and his bee, each with a mysterious past. Judge a witch trial, infiltrate the magical land of the elves, and even travel through time on your quest to extract fact from fiction.
Lovers of England's mythic history will delight as you meet Excalibur, the Green Children of Woolpit, and the Tremulous Hand, a creepy disembodied hand with a predilection for parchment. Put your analytical, investigative, and storytelling skills to the test as you decide where your loyalties lie: to the church, the crown, or the people of England.
Will you uncover the secret at the heart of English history, or succumb to the evil of the most deadly book ever created?

Atmospheric story with a gripping plot. I couldn't stop reading it. The choices are tough and interesting, and I'm looking forward to going through again and seeing how different choices affect the plot. The blend of fantasy and history is spot on, giving the dark and supernatural elements a believable grounding. The characters are well-defined, varied and relatable. I'd love a sequel. My only complaint is the lack of save points. It'd add to replayability if you could bookmark certain choices.

I'm a big fan of this one. The story is engaging and there are quite a few paths to take. This is fiction, but there are some nice historical notes. If you are strategic, there is a lot hidden under the surface. The game doesn't try to force a specific stat build like a lot of other choice games, and I appreciate that. You can be a bookworm, an evil mastermind, a patriot, a holy warrior, and much more.

Why is this not in READ MORE about the game. Wasted download. You can play the first three chapters of the game for free. Purchase the rest of the game below. Purchasing the rest of the game will also turn off in-game advertisements. €6.49

Very disappointing. Going by the reviews, I was expecting an interesting and engaging game. Instead I got a bland, boring and unengaging game. Characters were largely one dimensional. 1 or 2 made it into the second dimension. Choices didn't appear to make any real difference to the storyline. Romance is virtually nonexistent and the choices are pretty unappealing. It's one of the few CoG games that I haven't bothered finishing. Not through anger or frustration but through apathy...
