★★★★★ Lets me get my local TV channels on my phone or cast to my TV with the Clear stream TV device and an antenna.

★★★★★ Very good design and easy to understand app. I got the device on eBay for under $30 opened-box in a perfect condition as I know there are lots of people don't know how to use the device and returned to store. The common problem is the poor reception. The device needs to hook up to the antenna that receives strong signal. Lots of people failed here and blame the app or device. Then the device need to be placed closer to the Wi-Fi router/hub as it is a wireless device that needs a strong signal from the router. It can be a challenge to find a spot that have both good signals. Or what you can do is to run a longer coax from antenna to allow the device to be placed closer to the Wi-Fi router. Once installed, the app needs to be setup to find channels. Mine found 111 channels at the best spot inside the house on the second floor. I can sort and move the channels I like up to the top of the list. When watching, I usually use standard definition as my router is an old generation G. I don't mind watching a lower quality picture as it is on a small screen. I am really happy to watch live programs on the app anywhere in the house.

★★☆☆☆ Edit: I've returned the physical device to Best Buy because it gets so hot while plugged in, not even in use. I was alarmed by how hot it got. I'm an informed cord cutting consumer, and I'm impressed by this device. It's early days, and there are a few bugs, but the makers are doing what competitor devices cannot/will not do by sending video encoded for use on streaming devices like the Roku. In terms of bugs, I get consistent app crashes on Android Oreo when scanning for channels. I also get a Roku channel crash when trying to retrieve guide info on a weak signal. I consider these things not to be total showstoppers, but the devs should check them out.

★★☆☆☆ This app and the accompanying device are TERRIBLE. It never worked the way it should. The app and device cannot even connect to its own network (“CLEARSTREAMTV_XXXX”) most of the time. I always thought it was antenna placement or Wi-Fi (I have gigabit internet.) Your antennas are GREAT, this is NOT. (I have a Clear stream 2MAX) You get better performance (you can actually watch content) by just hooking the antenna directly to the TV. The only saving grace is that I only paid $30 for the device, the fact that the retail price is $100 is ridiculous. Yes, the one I bought was new.
