EteSync is a great tool in an age of mass surveillance by both governments and corporations. It puts the power of privacy back in the hands of the user, whilst making it easy to manage contacts, calendars, and tasks through existing popular apps - but with an encrypted backend. All around an amazing app.

Broken. Successfully used it for the two free weeks. After that I subscribed and paid for a yearly plan, but my account continued to be inactive and unpaid for over a week? Contacted support via email, they say payment is still broken???? Had to move all my data back out of etesync, what a waste of time :(

Rapid summary: service does not recognize non-mainstream (Google, Apple) calendars and contact books - won't sync. File-based syncing cannot be automated. Doesn't seem to be any data recovery functionality. How are you supposed to get your saved data on your recovery device?? App won't parse .ics files if they're too big. The app has long roads to get to being useful.

Maybe I just wasn't patient enough, but I just needed a simple app for notes sharing, and I couldn't make it work with EteSync Notes - e.g. I don't understand how collections in EteSync are related to task lists in EteSync Notes, but they are not in sync. Perhaps it is just my ignorance, but I expect a more intuitive workflow for such a simple job.
