Standard Notes is a great privacy-focused note app with strong end-to-end encryption and reliable sync across devices. The minimal interface is clean and distraction-free, making it good for writing and organization. However, many advanced features like rich text editing and file attachments are locked behind the paid plan, and the UI can feel a bit basic compared to other apps. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you value security and simplicity over extra features.

Exporting a note takes forever to load and if that wasn't bad enough Sharing to print doesn't always work. IDK what's going on but that needs to be fixed.

Free tier is extremely bare-bones: no way to bold/italicize/underline text or make checklists unless you're on a paid plan. & even if you have a Proton paid sub, it doesn't cover Standard Notes which is an entirely separate sub (cheapest of which is $90 annually). Sure, end-to-end encryption is great, & really should be standard these days. But to not even allow basic text formatting? & it's not even included in Proton paid plans? Come on. I'll stick with my Google Keep Notes, thanks.

The app stopped working for me. It shows me a screen about my keychain having been wiped (it hasn't actually been wiped) and prompts me for my password. I enter my password, and it nothing happens, it stays stuck on 'generating keys'. I can still use standard notes on other platforms. I didn't wipe my account or change my password or anything, so I don't understand why this app no longer works for me. Sucks, because I really liked the seamless, cross-platform functionality.
