I recently started self-hosting the standard notes' server, sync server and the web-app. The android app works seamlessly along with the web app and I see the sync happens instantly. I can confidently say, the best part about standard notes is that, it's the most privacy & security focused notes app! To be honest, you can't categorize this as a note app because you can expand its functionality with feature rich add-ons so that you can have spreadsheets, rich-text formatting and more in the app!

Have just started trying out note-taking in proper note-taking apps after depending on simple text editors for a long time. Standard notes are ticking many important boxes on my requirements list. It is open source, has self-hosting option and has more security features than most other note-taking apps. Native apps for most platforms and cloud sync seal the deal for me.

Most unreliable app which may lose all your work. Never synced properly and when followed the steps by clueless support team, lost all my notes as Standard Notes refused to load its own backup. I lost a month of work and my Pro subscription is down the drain. Please think 10 times before using it for anything important. And don't buy pro as the support is very bad and actually harms you with wrong steps.

My phone was updated to Android 16 last night, and now I can't open the app. Email, password not accepted. What is going on?

Auto deleted / truncated most of my notes. DO NOT trust this app. I lost many of my written notes, poetry etc. Automatically got truncated to smaller versions with texts removed randomly from between. The app had one job, like literally! :/ Feels devastating as some of them were quite important

PROS no trackers or ads. CONS no Find, no Undo or "exit without saving" just a REALLY vague revert feature, no scroll bar on pixels, paywall for different themes. Geez I just want to change the color of the bar at the top of the app. Not worth spending $$$ when there are dozens of ad-free note apps with plenty of customization features-for FREE (see Ossify). I "kinda" get paywalling the Excel file type, but paywalling themes and minimal color tweaks. I'll pass. FOSS apps for life!
