Description
Darker can lower your screen brightness to extremely low levels, to help prevent eyestrain during the night. Use the built-in color filter* to adjust the color of your display, perfect for filtering out harsh white backgrounds during the night.
This app is fully functional and does not include advertisements. Additional paid features are unlockable through an In-app purchase.
Xiaomi device / MIUI users need to go to Settings → Installed apps → Darker → Other permissions, and enable "Display pop-up window" for Darker to work correctly.

Note: When manually installing APK files, Android blocks the "Install" button from being pressed when Darker is running. This is NOT a bug. It's a protective measure to prevent malicious apps from camouflaging the install button. Pausing Darker will solve this.
Darker requires the use of accessibility services to darken the screen, no data will be accessed or shared via the AccessibilityService API.
*The color filter is similar to how the desktop version of f.lux works. Selecting a redder color will reduce more bluelight emitted from the display.
Tasker Support Darker has Tasker support, use these intents to send commands to Darker:
Add the above intents to Tasker by going to Action Category→System→Send Intent→Action, leave the other fields default, and note that the intents are case sensitive.
These two intents below need an additional parameter in the "Extra" field
darker.SETCOLOR "Extra" field: COLOR:1~16 (Colors are numbered left to right, top to bottom) darker.COLORSTRENGTH "Extra" field: STRENGTH:1~10
The intent below needs the "Target" field set to "Service"

Personally it works really good for me. I can easily turn it on and off, and it keeps the screen dark. The only problem is if I'm on a game, and then I suddenly get off, while it's loading the filter turns off and my screen goes bright again, but it soon loads and goes back to the filter on so the screen is dimmed again. Other than that it's really good and works well.

It really is not suitable for my phone, Poco C75. First, it demands to be on accessibility and shortcut. Mandatory. But my accessibility feature keeps disabling it. 2. Went off and turned off each time I press on it and unable to enable it again easily. (Have got to open the app again and again). . 3. oh I also tried the locking thing it already mentioned in the app, but my device doesn't allow it. Very regrettable because I really love its simplicity & low storage. That's all for now. 290825

The UI is lackluster, and you have to actually switch back to the app to change the brightness. Otherwise, works as intended.

Really wanted to like this app, and I got real close to paying for it, until I realized almost daily I had to redo the accessibility setting, because according to my phone "this service is malfunctioning" so it literally could not be turned back on, without disabling the app in accessibility, and enabling it again and waiting for the 30-second prompt on my phone to allow me to click accept/ok. If it weren't for the constant "malfunction" I would have paid for pro.
