YOUR RESULT COMES FIRST
No account. No sign-up. No email. Ads keep this free, but you'll never sit through one to get your heart rate. If you're checking at 2am because something feels wrong, it should be the first thing you see. Not the third.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HEARTBEAT
Rest a fingertip over the rear camera and keep still. As blood moves through your finger the color shifts a tiny amount, and the camera reads it. That's photoplethysmography, the same trick a smartwatch sensor uses. Your heart rate turns up 15 seconds later, in beats per minute (BPM). If the signal's too weak to be accurate, the app says so instead of making a number up.

WHEN YOUR HEARTBEAT FEELS IRREGULAR
A racing pulse at night. A hard thump on the stairs. A beat that skipped, or fluttered. They're gone before you can describe them. So take a reading the second it happens and tag how you were feeling. Your trace shows how evenly the beats landed. But an uneven trace is just as often a finger that moved, and this app won't tell you which. That one's for your doctor, and now you've got something to show them.

WHAT'S A NORMAL RESTING HEART RATE?
For adults the Mayo Clinic puts it at 60 to 100 beats per minute. It shifts with age, and a normal heart rate for women sits a little above a man's. Activity, fitness, caffeine and mood move it around too, which is why one reading tells you far less than a pattern does. That's what the chart is for. See your doctor if your resting heart rate stays high, above 100, or drops below 60 when you're not an athlete.

Your target heart rate, worked out from your maximum, Fitbit style, saved every time. Rest is up to 50% of max. Fat burn, 50 to 70%. Cardio, 70 to 85%, where most training sits. Peak, above 85%.

Generally good app, but I miss having an undo option to restore readings that may accidentally get deleted. There is a risk of unwittingly deleting readings while scrolling up and down the history. The trigger to delete a reading must be swiping more than halfway to one side instead of the current highly sensitive settings (even a slight shift to one side while scrolling up or down deletes historical readings).

Very accurate real handy for me having both fast and slow rate problems been a lifesaver once when it dropped to under 20 bpm called ambo ended up in a rescue chopper to Lismore hospital so yes it's a great app...

You get a long advert with literally anything you click on. I wouldn't mind if it was just when you open the app but with ads for everything it is just unusable now.
