I've been using Standard Notes for a while and recently tried the self-hosted setup. I really like the focus on privacy and encryption, which is something many note apps don't prioritize. The interface is simple and distraction-free, and syncing between devices has worked reliably for me. The self-hosting setup can be a bit technical at first, but once it's running it works smoothly. Overall it's a solid choice if you want a secure, minimal note-taking app and more control over your data.

Overall, it’s a solid choice if you value security and simplicity over extra features.

Free tier is extremely bare-bones: no way to bold/italicize/underline text or make checklists unless you're on a paid plan. & even if you have a Proton paid sub, it doesn't cover Standard Notes which is an entirely separate sub (cheapest of which is $90 annually). Sure, end-to-end encryption is great, & really should be standard these days. But to not even allow basic text formatting? & it's not even included in Proton paid plans? Come on. I'll stick with my Google Keep Notes, thanks.

I tried to log in to my desktop app. Every time it says wrong password. I had my password written, and I know it’s right. It’s the same in my phone too.
