Detailed Overview Turn screen on with gestures Save the wear and tear on your power button by using gestures to turn the screen on. You can turn the screen on via the proximity sensor or by lifting the device up. Uncovering the proximity sensor lets you pull your phone out of your pocket and have the screen turn on automatically. Waving over the sensor works great when your hands are dirty! You may also set a tilt angle that turns the screen on when the phone is lifted up (tilt to wake).
Keep screen on automatically Choose from various methods that detect use of the device and keep the display on. The motion method detects small movements from you just holding the device. Waving over the proximity sensor is another way to keep your screen on, and optionally extends the timeout. The tilt angle method allows the display to stay on when propped up, even when you aren't holding it. You can also choose to have the display stay on while using chosen apps, while charging, or while on a call (display still turns off when you put the phone to your ear).
Time screen out quickly to save battery You can choose the screen timeout when there are no keep-on functions actively keeping the screen on. If the screen isn't being kept on, it should time out quickly to save battery power. The screen can turn off even quicker when the proximity sensor is covered (in-pocket or face down), or when the device is pointed down. You can also set a separate timeout for the lock screen. KinScreen will not turn the screen off when other apps are keeping the screen on, unless you have selected to actively turn the screen off.
Resource Use KinScreen is designed to be as efficient and battery friendly as possible. It uses minimal CPU and memory, and sensor use is highly optimized. Some functions use more power than others. Turn-on-by-tilt-angle will use significant battery power because it needs to keep the device awake in order to work.
Premium Version All functions are highly customizable to your taste. Fine-tuning of numerical parameters is locked in the free version. Please upgrade to premium to fully unlock all customization, and support future development!

I have used Kin Screen for several years. I like to keep my screen off when I'm not using my phone to save the battery. This app is easy to use and consistently does what it's supposed to do. I definitely recommend this app to control your screen.

Edited: although I had some issues getting it set up correctly to work with Kodi, it received some TOP NOTCH customer support from Flaviu who helped diagnose the issue. Definitely works better if you Allow Notifications, so you can manually toggle whether the screen shuts down or not. A multitude of features even on the free version, but I will be buying the full paid version on the strength of my experience, not something I often do!

Kin Screen worked a treat on my Galaxy S6 for 9 years. I would have given it 5 stars then. Then I upgraded to an S24, which meant jumping from Android 7 to Android 14. Kin screen appeared to be well-behaved on the new phone -- apart from ignoring many of the settings. In particular, it would not keep the screen on when it was supposed to. The "keep screen on" toggle was also ineffective. After wrestling with it for 4 months, I uninstalled it.

App is not working at all on Android 15 even when granted accessibility & excluded app from batt optimization. Kernel version is 6.6.57-android15-8. Please fix for Android 15, SDK 35-36. Kin screen 6.1.2 is built on Google’s SDK 34, where most Google apps currently are on SDK 35 & 36. I think Kin screen frameworks needs to be updated at least to sdk35 as current app ver 6.1.2 is on old sdk34 which doesn't have full access to linux kernel which in turn breaks Kin screen on working on Android 15.

This app hasn’t been updated in 2 years, and it shows. A day or two after setup, it stops keeping the screen on, whether by motion, correct tilt, or for selected apps, and sometimes it fails to turn the screen off when the phone is lying flat. I've used this app for years and know its settings inside out: recalibrated motion/tilt, unrestricted battery use, cleared app data, and even reinstalled it. Nothing seems to work. This app has become essentially unusable. (Android 16, Samsung One UI 8.0)
