An Astronomer's best friend! I use the true heading to find my local meridian and a northerly bearing to set my tripod square, and you can use the pitch/roll to level your base. Once you mount your head, put your phone on the saddle, and use the pitch again to set your displayed latitude! You can polar align easily from there but this compass helps to make visual set up and tracking a breeze. I've been using it for years. The only thing I would add would be local sidereal time. Great app!

Why does the new update suddenly have all these untouchable permission about internet access etc. ? This is a magnetic field sensor based compass app ! It doesn't need internet to work. The fact that this app didn't have this kind of suspicious bs, is the very reason I chose it over the competition. I will not update for as long as these unjustifiable untouchable permissions wait in the next update, and I recommend everyone to be as careful as I am. Always check the permissions before updating.

When you turn 180 degrees you do not get a 180 degree difference in your direction. I could only get 150 degrees at best. Worst was 100 degrees

Off by 12° even considering declination. North changes between starts even once calibrated, or calibrated each time. North doesn't match other compass apps on same phone, side by side. The 12° off is also compared to handheld magnetic compasses.

Don't need or want ads on my compass. Used to be a good app. Latest update includes ads you have to pay to remove, and not much else. Uninstalled.

Compass on Google Pixel Android does not calibrate consistently nor hold onto true North.
