Turn your photos into cross stitch charts you can actually stitch. Your pet, your garden, your family: take a photo or choose one, pick your cloth and size, and Cross Count charts it in the 489 real DMC shades, with the skeins to buy. Or draw your own, square by square, on a blank chart. Then stitch from your phone: tick off squares row by row, and keep every finished piece in your Portfolio.
It saves itself, and nothing is ever sent to us.
Start to finish: four steps
1. Pick a photo: from your gallery or the camera. Artwork and cartoons work too.
2. Your cloth: how wide, how tall, and the count of the cloth in your drawer.
3. Place it on the cloth: drag to place, pinch to zoom.
4. Finish the pattern: choose how many colors and adjust the light; everything redraws as you drag.
Your DMC shopping list
Each shade’s DMC number and real name, its symbol, its stitches, and how many skeins to buy. Copy this list puts it all on your clipboard, and Replace swaps a thread everywhere in the chart.
Tick off squares, row by row
• One thread at a time: say which thread is in your needle and the chart highlights only that color.
• Tick squares off: drag a rectangle from any corner, and finished squares go green. Every gesture can be undone.
• Row done ticks off the row in the thread you are stitching and moves the band down one.
• Find next stitch rings the next square of your thread.
• Photos & notes: an album for each piece, every photo stamped with the date and how far along it was.
Your finished pieces
When the last stitch is done, the piece goes to your Portfolio. It opens on your photo of the finished work, the whole piece behind it.
Made for photos
Cross Count knows a photo when it sees one and charts it for smooth fur, skin and sky, in blended colors. Artwork and cartoons get solid colors and clean edges instead. Compare shows both side by side, and you can switch any time.
Draw your own
• Start a blank chart and draw square by square, or draw by hand over any chart.
• Put your photo behind the grid and trace it.
• Pencil shapes (freehand, line, box and oval, open or solid), Fill, Pick color, Erase, Clean up and Undo.
• Select a part to flip, turn, copy, move, center or delete.
• Mirror drawing: draw one side and the other draws itself.
• Text in a stitch alphabet: letters, numbers and punctuation.
• Backstitch at any angle, and Outline it for me: black backstitch around the subject or around every color.
A chart you can follow at arm’s length
Thread colors, symbols and grid lines each switch on or off with one tap. Charts up to 320 by 400 stitches, with 4 to 60 threads and 67 distinct symbols, on 17 cloth counts from 6 to 40, over one thread or two.
Off the phone, onto the table
Preview every page, then print it straight from your phone, or save a PDF, images, a Pattern Keeper PDF, or an OXS file for other cross stitch apps. Sheets repeat three squares on every join, so a taped-together chart lines up. OXS charts from other apps open too. Back up all projects writes your whole library to one file that restores onto a new phone.
