Description by cb innovations Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
Data Eraser helps you securely delete selected files, photos and videos on Android™. Overwrite available free space and document your erasure tasks with digitally signed reports.
Developed in Germany by cb innovations, this ad-free file shredder lets you remove local files without resetting your entire phone. Keep using your device while clearing content you no longer need, or prepare selected data for removal before a sale or trade-in.
Choose the files you want to erase
Use the built-in file explorer to select individual files or folders. Remove private photos, old videos, downloaded PDFs, saved ID scans or confidential work documents. Keep the files you still use and erase only the content you select.
After moving important documents to another location, check that your backup opens correctly before deleting the originals. This gives you a clear way to separate information you need from files that no longer belong on your phone.
Wipe free space and supported SD cards
Previously deleted files can leave remnants, depending on the device and file system. Free space wiping writes new data to unused storage available to the app, helping reduce the risk of recovering earlier deletions.
Use it on accessible internal storage and compatible SD cards. Wiping free space is different from deleting existing files: select unwanted photos and documents separately. Check the storage location before starting, especially when using a removable memory card.
Five methods for secure data erasure
Choose from five wiping methods, including options based on NATO, BSI-2011-VS and BSI TL-03423 procedures. Single-pass and multi-pass options differ in overwrite count and processing time. Select an available method for your task, allow it to finish and check the result.
Deletion reports with a digital signature
Review a detailed erasure report to document the operation. Keep the digitally signed deletion report with your records, use it for a device handover or include it in an internal review.
For IT teams, technicians and businesses, the report helps explain which task was performed. It is a record of that operation, not an independent certification that every area of the device has been erased. Follow your organization's rules for retaining and deleting information.
Three steps from selection to review
1. Choose the files, folders or accessible free space.
2. Select the wiping method and confirm your selection.
3. Let the task finish and review the deletion report.
Use the same approach for personal downloads, confidential attachments or local copies of completed project files.
Before selling or trading in your phone
Back up what you want to keep. Use Data Eraser for selected files or accessible free space, then follow your manufacturer's instructions to remove accounts and perform a factory reset. Check removable storage separately and save needed reports before resetting. The app complements these handover steps; it does not replace them.
Try it first. Upgrade for larger tasks.
The free version allows a limited amount of data erasure per day. Try the functions on unwanted files and check access to your storage. Premium removes the daily erasure limit through an in-app purchase. Review the included features and purchase terms in the app.
Important before you erase
Functions depend on your device, Android version and permissions. Cloud backups, online accounts and protected data in other apps need separate management. Flash storage can include areas inaccessible to apps; more passes do not guarantee complete physical erasure or make recovery impossible on every device.
Treat deletion as permanent. Back up important files and check your selection. An interrupted or failed task must not be treated as completed.
