Description
Firewall No Root is a no-root app firewall for Android, built for users who want practical control over app internet access. Decide per app whether connections are allowed or blocked. Manage Wi-Fi and cellular data separately, reduce background traffic and keep more control over everyday privacy — with no ads.
Control app internet access • Allow or block internet access per app, without root • Set separate rules for Wi-Fi and cellular data • Use “Wi-Fi only” for heavy apps, updates or streaming • Reduce background traffic to save data and help battery life • Optional notifications when an app tries to go online for the first time • Keep kids’ games or learning apps offline when they do not need internet • Review apps that connect often and change permissions quickly • Optional: view system apps separately and fine-tune their access
Typical use cases: • Travel: block cellular data for apps that use too much data • Family phone: choose which apps for children may go online • Focus: keep social or shopping apps offline until you need them • Privacy habits: reduce unnecessary app connections in the background
Advanced firewall tools For more control, Firewall No Root includes optional advanced tools: • Custom rules for IP addresses, host names and domains • Regularly updated filter/host lists • Built-in DNS changer to switch to alternative DNS providers • Quick return to your default DNS if something does not work as expected
Filter lists can help reduce connections to common tracking destinations without manually managing every address. Custom rules let advanced users be precise when they know which connections should be allowed or restricted.
How it works: local filtering with VpnService Firewall No Root uses Android’s official VpnService API to filter network traffic locally on your device. The app creates a local connection to itself, routes traffic through the firewall and then decides whether to allow or block each connection. Traffic is not tunnelled to a remote VPN server and is not forwarded to third-party servers.
Because VpnService is used, Android may show a “VPN” indicator while the firewall is active. This is expected for local filtering. Firewall No Root is not a traditional VPN service; it uses VpnService for on-device filtering and permission control.
Privacy, no ads & important notes Developed in Germany with a focus on privacy and transparency. For details about data handling, please review the Google Play Data safety section.
Core firewall features are available free of charge and without advertising. An optional in-app purchase unlocks additional convenience features and supports ongoing development, without forcing you into a subscription.
Only one app can use Android’s VpnService at a time. If another VPN or firewall app is active, you need to choose which one to use. Blocking connectivity can affect app functions: messengers need internet to receive messages, and video or music apps need internet to stream. If something stops working, allow the app again or switch the rule to Wi-Fi only.
Firewall No Root does not replace operating system security updates and cannot guarantee protection against every threat, but it can help reduce unnecessary background connections, lower data usage and give you clearer control over app internet access.

Great app to discover Xfinity was spying on me, but they deny using 3rd party apps. Even though their app says otherwise.

So overall is good, but threat and 18+ content not fully blocked. I Want to add proxy setting and biotech settings like postmaster and adding custom DNS resolver

This is a great firewall app with a really great and modern UI but is functionally lacking. I use Net Guard usually, but I wanted to give this a try for the UI. It's not as advanced as the former and doesn't need to be, but it lacks these two important functions; 1. It doesn't seem to enable on device restart (firewall is off; all apps unrestricted) 2. It's set to always allow apps by default (on install, etc.). These two as well as the second as an option would greatly improve this app!

I had a lot of hackers, and wasn't sure what to do. I loved the logs' information, which helped me to identify the people doing it. We'll see what happens. This app helped a lot.

Recently I bought a phone running Android 14 and installed this app, but it won't block a simple app from access to the internet, but instead it messed up and won't allow my Play Store to install any more apps until I have to shut it down so my Play Store can work as usual. Hence, I tried to install other app called ReThink and it works just excellent. The best thing is ReThink it's an Open Source with no ads and don't ask you to pay any $ to use all features.

Firewall is good though but how about making a VPN connection optional. All the device traffic is routed through the VPN, who wants that?

I had searched all over the Google play to block app clone or second app like WhatsApp clone. There is no such app including this app.

ZERO stars. They "block" gugl for ME, but not for gugl...and ASK MONEY to do that? Stay away.

Trust & Safety: Privacy and safety are central: the developer states no user data is collected for analytics or advertising, no data is sold or shared, and connections used to update filter/host lists are encrypted in transit. The app does not create activity logs intended to profile browsing habits and requires no external account. It uses local filtering via VPNService, and the on‑device nature means traffic is not sent to third‑party servers.
