Description
Call upon the power of your cursed Demon Mark to battle dragons, witches, and an undead army! Beware: each time you use it, the Mark grows stronger.
"Demon Mark: A Russian Saga" is a 200,000-word interactive fantasy novel by Vlad Barash and Lorraine Fryer, steeped in Russian folklore. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
Once upon a time, in the land of Rus, you lived a simple life as the firstborn child of peasant farmers. But when the evil demon Uhin places the Demon Mark upon you and kidnaps your parents' second child, you'll set out on an epic adventure to reunite your family.
On your journey through Russian folklore, you'll confront the treacherous witch Baba Yaga, the seven-headed dragon Zmey Gorynych, the mythic giant Svyatogor, and the villainous Koschei the Deathless with his army of corpses.
Team up with the bogatyrs, the heroes of Russian folk tales: strong Ilya Muromets, pious Alyosha Popovich, and wise Marya Morevna. You and your talking animal companion will journey all the way to the Tsar and Tsaritsa's court in Kiev for assistance on your quest. Will the bards of Kiev sing the tale of your heroic victory, or your tragic sacrifice?
The Demon Mark is whispering to you. Do you hear it? Should you listen when it calls your name?
• Play as male, female, or non-binary • Meet the monsters and marvels of Russian folk tales, from Kiev to Koschei's Fortress. • Convince the Tsar and Tsaritsa to help you hunt down the demon who marked you • Court the Grey Wolf, a mysterious creature who can assist you on your journey • Defeat the seven-headed dragon Zmey Gorynych • Listen to the stories of Svyatogor...and stay awake! • Complete Baba Yaga's impossible tasks • Escape the dungeons of Koschei the Deathless • Battle the demon Uhin and reunite your family • Embrace the power of the Demon Mark and become a demon yourself

Story is good I like the story, it's pretty interesting, but what turned me off from the very beginning is that the people within the story seem to think that there are more than two genders, which there aren't.

The reviews are disgusting almost all of them are people being but hurt about the gender thing half of them didn't even comment on the actual story. The story could be a little bland at time, but it is one of the better COG games I really urge you to try it if you're reading the reviews!

The only reason I find for this game to have lots of 1-star reviews is the fact that it has the option for a non-binary gender, which I find pretty fine. DON'T GET DISCOURAGED. This game is awesome.

This story is bland, poorly written, and does not feel like a Russian fairy tale. This felt more like something a middle/high school student would write. Creatures from Russian folk tales are just thrown in. It doesn't feel like the writer did much research. And it seems most are giving this good reviews just because you can play as a non-binary character and your sibling is non-binary. Also, I know that several people have already said this, but the sibling being non-binary was very poorly done. It felt like it was only thrown in for the sake of having a non-binary character. Also, the way the character decides she's non-binary is poorly done as well. It would've felt more natural if she figured this out over the course of the story or as she grew up. You know, like how actual trans people figure it out and not how these transgenders think it's figured out.

Never felt like my choices impacted the story, not very well written either. Some choices could use some more explanation, for example when you get to the crossroads I thought you would get to go down all three paths to see the characters there. I was allowed to go to two before the game moved forward and locked me out of path I was saving for best for last. And when you're given the choice to "hold onto" a box or give it to another character, the game should've told you hanging onto it would be seen as betrayal by the character. I didn't see how holding it meant stealing and keeping the box for myself. And honestly, the sibling being nonbinary felt really shoehorned in to check some kind of box. Just them being constantly referred to as "your sibling" made the game feel really impersonal and emotionally disconnected. Also, the way the game reverses gender roles everywhere it can is SO hamfisted I rolled my eyes wherever it happened. Seriously, just stop. It's not revolutionary. You're not winning any points. Usually love LGBT inclusive stuff, as I'm a member, and liberal as they come, but it's just done completely wrong in this game. It just tries way too hard it becomes ingratiating. I've played like 50 of these choice games and this one is definitely lower quality compared to others. It feels more like a hosted game than one actually produced by the company.
