Description by Code-418 Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
DriveSonic Pro is a native Android Automotive OS media app that connects your car directly to your own Subsonic-compatible music server — Navidrome, Airsonic, Gonic, or Subsonic itself. It runs on the car's own screen and speakers, not mirrored from a phone, so your library is there the moment you start the engine.
PAIR WITHOUT TYPING
Entering a server address and password on a car touchscreen is miserable and unsafe. DriveSonic does it differently. The car shows a QR code. You scan it with your phone, type your server details on a real keyboard, and the car connects. Nothing to type while you drive.
BROWSE YOUR WHOLE LIBRARY
• Artists — every artist on your server, drill down to albums
• Albums — Recently Played, Recently Added, Random Albums, and All Albums A–Z
• Favorites — everything you have starred, in one place
• Shuffle — a random mix pulled straight from your library
• Genres — sorted by how much music you actually have in each
• Decades — 1950s through the 2020s
• Search — find any track, artist, or album by voice or keyboard
BUILT FOR DRIVING
• Gapless playback, so live albums and DJ mixes flow the way they were mastered
• Steering wheel controls for play, pause, skip, and seek
• Resume where you left off — your queue and position survive shutdown
• Full album artwork across browsing, now playing, and the queue
• Scrub the progress bar to seek anywhere in a track
• Tap any track in the queue to jump straight to it
STAR AND SHUFFLE FROM THE ROAD
Star or unstar the current track from the now playing screen. Star a whole album, or reshuffle the album you are listening to without interrupting the song that is playing. Everything syncs back to your server.
PLAY COUNTS THAT COUNT
DriveSonic Pro scrobbles finished tracks back to your server, so the listening you do in the car feeds the same play counts and smart playlists as everywhere else.
EASY ON YOUR DATA
A 5 GB cache keeps recently played music on the car, so repeat listening does not re-stream the same files. Useful for large FLAC libraries and mobile connections.
YOUR SERVER, YOUR MUSIC
There is no DriveSonic account and no catalogue of ours to subscribe to. The app talks to the server you already run. No ads. No recommendations you did not ask for. No listening history sold to anyone.
REQUIREMENTS
• A car running Android Automotive OS with Google built in
• A Subsonic-compatible server reachable from the car's internet connection
• A phone or computer to complete the one-time pairing
DriveSonic Lite is available free if you want to try the browsing and playback first. Pro adds Favorites, Shuffle, Recently Played, Genres, Decades, resume playback, starring, album shuffle, and scrobbling.
