Description
With the "eAusweise" app, you can easily, securely, and digitally present your driver's license, registration details, proof of identity, your student ID and proof of age in Austria on your smartphone – during a traffic check or in private. Share your data simply at the touch of a button and completely contactless. No data is transferred without your consent. How it works: 1. Log in to the "ID Austria" app with your ID Austria or an eIDAS-notified eID (as defined in Art. 6 (1) of the eIDAS Regulation). 2. Download the "eAusweise" app for free. 3. Unlock the app using your fingerprint, facial recognition, or device password. 4. Upload your digital IDs to the "eAusweise" app using the full-function ID Austria or an eIDAS-notified eID (as defined in Art. 6 (1) of the eIDAS Regulation) (in this case, the data must be available in an Austrian register). 5. Specify whether the app is allowed to notify you about digital credentials that are about to expire. 6. During a verification, simply present the QR code created in the app for your digital ID. Your counterpart scans the QR code and can retrieve the required data.
Technical interfaces are available for verification by the Austrian executive branch, but not for verification by foreign authorities. You will need: · The "ID Austria" app installed on the same device · An ID Austria with full functionality (more information can be found at ida.gv.at) or an eIDAS-notified eID (as defined in Art. 6 (1) of the eIDAS Regulation) · Activated fingerprint function or facial recognition. Alternatively, an activated device password. · For the digital driver's license: a valid Austrian credit card driver's license. · For the digital registration data: a vehicle registration certificate issued in Austria.
No new user account is required for the "eAusweise" app; you simply identify yourself using your ID Austria. ID Austria is the next generation of the Handy-Signatur and offers secure two-factor authentication for digital services. To do so, log in to the "ID Austria" app with your ID Austria and allow the "eAusweise" app to access the required information. Both apps are secured by fingerprint recognition, facial recognition, or a device password.

Works the way described. Signed in with Digitalis Amt (ID Austria), and downloaded my driver's license in the app. It literally says in the description that you need two apps, I don't get the one-star reviews 🤷♀️

After regularly giving government's apps 1-star ratings because of fail after fail. It worked. Several times. Initially a bit weird to set up (banking apps need also high level protection, but do not need dozens of screens to identify, validate, etc.), but after that everything fine so far.

Works well with an ID Austria (Conversion). Yes, you will get an error message if you only have the ID Austria Basis version (I'm looking at you, you one-star reviewers 😉). And just because people have complained; You can get an ID Austria Conversion without an Austrian ID (Passport). Just read the FAQ's. You will need to get in touch with the Landespolizeidirektion.

I have ID Austria with FIDO tokens but again this app requires biometric unlock which is simply less secure than a gesture or password. Would like to use but can't because of nonsensical requirements

Doesn't work. Tells me that I need the Digitalis Amt app (which I already have, WITH Vollfunktion) and opens the webpage that tells me to download the app instead of going to the app directly.

Why is a biometric authn necessary? Anyone could use my hard copy ID if I loose it. And who verifies that the stored biometrics are the ones of ID owner. PIN or password should be enough. Not everyone likes to store fingerprint or faceID on ones mobile.
