Comments on Fake SID – Chiptune Tracker for Android

★★★★☆ Tony F · Oct 22, 2022

Very enjoyable, very fun! Sounds great, has all the SID functionality and then some. But the main thing it sorely needs is the ability to export .sid files... That would be amazing. I hope this app hasn't been given up on. There needs to be more legit chip tune trackers designed for smartphones like this! Also, it won't play back if I switch from speaker to headphones to Bluetooth etc. I have to restart the app every time I plug in or unplug my headphones. Also, not overwrite other files on save.

Absolutely fantastic chip tracker. Great for anyone, whether you're familiar with trackers or new to the chip tracker scene and wanting to experiment. UI was clearly developed with a mobile interface in mind for ease of use and creative flow. ##### Only gripe is that there's no way to import instruments - .ci, .xi, sid, wav, mp3, anything. The instrument creater here is cumbersome, and being able to use another tracker to create instruments and then import/edit them would make this app perfect.

I don't understand how to program notes here. I'm even having a hard time programming the audio. I only here one note for 1 row In song area each time. I don't get what all those random numbers are for programming music exactly. I even used a guide to help me, but not many results. Could you send that guide again to check please

I don't kno what's wrong, I LITERALLY cannot make any noise but atonal beeps that sound NOTHING like the demo. That is, if I can hear anything at all - the main thing I get is silence

★★☆☆☆ Tim Bailey · Jul 9, 2022

After much time with app, I've concluded that it's far too complicated for most to get a grip with. Such a shame as I feel everyone should be able to open up an app, play around for 30 mins & be able to use that app to create or achieve something enjoyable. Or at least have a much greater understanding about the app. This app is a nightmare to figure out. I'm a musician. I've programmed music on the C64, produced songs on new & old DAW systems yet can't figure this app out. Very disappointing!

Fake SID is an Android app for creating quick, casual C64-style music. Designed as a lightweight "retro toy," it offers a simple entry point into the world of chiptune trackers without the complexity of professional tools.

If you’re looking for a fun way to experiment with 8-bit sounds and lo-fi melodies on the go, Fake SID provides an easy-to-use pattern-based interface.

Looking for a more serious experience? If you require cycle-accurate emulation and GoatTracker 2 compatibility, please check out my flagship app: GTMobile - C64 SID Tracker.
