Ultra-secure and safe private messaging, now available on Famp! No phone number required, no user data collection possible. Personal details (profile) are needed only for chats. Interaction on gossips-board is anonymous. Chats available only when connected as friends (1-to-1) or added to a chatRoom (group).

How to add someone as a friend for chats ?
Users on famp are identified by a unique ID. In order to add someone as a friend on famp, you need to exchange this unique id via some alternate channel. Go to 'Share my Contact' option to get your unique ID. Share your ID, and when you receive the unique ID of your friend, go to 'Add a Friend' option and paste the unique ID. You will be connected as friends when both have added each other's unique ID.

Famp is a p2p (peer-to-peer) network based social media app. In a p2p network, data is transferred only between users (peers) and not stored on a centralised server. Communication between peers in famp network is secure. No one can access private conversations between users.

Note: Your device should be connected to internet for the app to function. GPS should be turned on when using the app first time, or when updating location.
Note: The default location shown in map is very approximate. Select your location carefully since you can only interact with peers in close proximity. It can only be updated after 48 hours.
Pro Tip: Stay online as long as possible to increase the probability of your posts reaching nearby users.
Coloured dot (with number) on top shows the number of connected peers.

Gossips-board:
The coolest feature on Famp. Users can interact with other people in their neighbourhood using topic based micro-blogs (short piece of writing) called Gossips.

The social media we know can become a really weird place. Finding new people can be awkward. It is filled with fake accounts and bots, users with a single agenda, who don't act like real people. This prevents genuine people from interacting with each other. We need a medium where people seem real. In gossips-board, users interact only with limited number of people who are in close proximity. This limited reach shall keep bots away. Also, in modern lifestyle, people don't get to interact much with people in their very neighbourhood. Gossips-board is built to help people connect better. People might just be looking to have a discussion about a particular topic with nearby users without befriending them or sharing personal details with them. Gossips-board provides you a way to do just that.

Write what you feel about a topic and it will be shown to all nearby users who have subscribed to that topic. You're only shown posts for topics that you have subscribed. Posts are sent only to users who are nearby. Users living in remote areas can add a location at a distance from their approximate device location, where they're likely to find more peers to interact with.

Pro Tip: If you don't like the posts for a topic, then go to 'My subscriptions' and delete the topic from your subscriptions. You will no longer see posts for that topic.

Gossips can reach greater distances if they are 'Refamped'. Users can also try to initiate a chat with the author of a gossip they see.
