Firechat concept is amazing. Though, the app seems completely abandoned and broken. Their server has been broken for a while, so the app just keeps saying there's an error on the server side and you won't even be able to register yourself in order to use the app. Which is sad. Hopefully someone will take this project ahead.

Kept asking for WiFi to be enabled, despite it being repeatedly being advertised as a non-wifi / Bluetooth alternative. Also, when trying to test ping someone physically right next to me (both with android phones), the app somehow does not send the messages, regardless of being on the same WiFi network, unless WiFi is enabled on both phones. Even then, the reliability is dodgy. Had to delete it. Not trustworthy at all, for an emergency non-wifi/Bluetooth-enabled situation. Update 2020: Broken
