First Bloom Dates

First Bloom Dates is an offline-first garden phenology diary for home gardeners, allotment keepers, and nature-curious observers. Record the first calendar date each year when a named seasonal sign appears—first bloom, first leaf-out, first frog spawn, first swallow, and similar fixed events. Then see how your garden’s spring is shifting with clear earlier/later day deltas. No weather feeds, no species ID camera, no maps—only the dates you enter and local comparisons you can trust. YOUR PHENOLOGY LIST Cold start opens a fullscreen list on a soft spring-parchment surface. Each sign row shows this year’s first date beside last year’s date and a signed day-delta badge (earlier/later), so shifts are obvious at a glance. LOG ONCE PER SIGN One tap logs the first date for the active year. Use the date picker, add an optional short typed note, and you are done. One first-date per sign per year keeps records clean and comparable. COMPARE ACROSS YEARS • Multi-year history strip per sign with chronological first dates and average day-of-year • Year-on-year comparison matrix (signs × years) highlighting earliest and latest firsts • Season progress board grouping plant, animal, and garden-chore signs for the current year BUILD YOUR CHECKLIST Start with a seed pack of common temperate signs (daffodil bloom, oak leaf-out, frog spawn, first cuckoo call, and more as editable text). Add custom signs in categories—bloom, leaf, animal, fruit, or other—and archive signs you no longer track. Sort and filter the list by category, missing-this-year, or largest day-delta. PRIVATE, LOCAL, SHAREABLE Everything stays on your device. Export a plain-text year summary through the system share sheet for notebooks or club records. Set date format, year-start month for your season, and list density to match how you work. Built for phenology, not generic journaling. Log first dates once and read clear year-to-year shifts—offline, private, and made for the garden.
