Comments on Fortean Times Magazine for Android

★★★★★ Robert Grixti · Apr 10, 2020

Access to FORTRAN Times Magazine in a simple and intuitive app. Scrapbook feature is a nice useful addon.

★★★★☆ Laura Gjovaag · Jun 5, 2020

Bare-bones reading app, with pinch to zoom on each page. It could use a couple of simple upgrades - particularly the ability to save issues to an SD card instead of internal memory. If your phone doesn't have much internal memory, downloading issues is annoying. Otherwise, it does what it says on the tin and that's all I ask. The magazine itself is fantastic, but sometimes difficult to read with pinch to zoom due to the layout. Still, the quality of the images is good, and it is nice to be able to zoom in on certain spots in images and such. If you can't get the paper version, this isn't a bad choice.

★★☆☆☆ Jessica Tilby · May 15, 2024

Love the content of the actual mag. The app is pretty rubbish though as it won't load the content or download it, or it takes forever to show. It's been a few months of this. So I'm actually behind in my reading.

★★☆☆☆ Jock Smith · Jan 12, 2020

I installed this app because Google removed FORTRAN Times (along with all other print-replica magazines) from Google News. This app is not as good as the Google Play News app, because unlike the Play News app, it doesn't have an optional decluttered reading mode, has no proper font options (just pinch to zoom), does not reflow text when zoomed and does not work at all well with text to speech screen-readers. I will not resubscribe unless it is improved. I wish I'd gone with the print version.
