Description by Milad Atef Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
WHAT ONE PHOTO GIVES YOU
• The reading for this label, green for permissible, red for forbidden, amber for doubtful
• The reason, naming the exact ingredient or the exact cause of the doubt
• Every forbidden or doubtful ingredient flagged on its own line, with the concern named
• Every E-number visible on the pack, decoded to its likely source
• The halal certification mark on the pack by name, or None visible
• Steps to verify whatever the label leaves open
• A confidence score on every reading
THE READING LEADS THE RESULT
In the aisle you need the answer first and the why second, so the reading sits above the product name and the reason sits directly beneath it.
HARAM, OR ONLY DOUBTFUL
Haram is used only for what the label actually shows: pork and pork derivatives, blood, alcohol listed as an ingredient, and meat with no halal slaughter stated. An ingredient whose origin the pack leaves open is doubtful rather than haram, and it is listed that way with the reason attached.
IT SAYS DOUBTFUL WHEN THE LABEL IS DOUBTFUL
Unspecified gelatin. Mono- and diglycerides. Glycerin. Rennet. Unnamed enzymes. Lecithin with no source stated. Vanilla extract on an alcohol carrier. None of these can be settled from a pack, so the app does not pretend otherwise. It marks them doubtful, names them one at a time, and says what to ask the manufacturer. If the ingredients list is folded, cut off, glare-washed or in a script it cannot fully read, that part is unknown rather than fine. A permissible reading that did not reach high confidence is shown as doubtful too.
WHAT THE E-CODES ACTUALLY MEAN
E441, E471, E120, E322, E904, E920. Every E-number visible on the label comes back with what it is and where it usually comes from, so the gap between a synthetic additive and an animal-derived one stops being a guess. A halal certification mark is recorded when the photo shows one, and an all-plant product is not condemned for lacking one.
WHERE THE DOUBTFUL INGREDIENTS HIDE
Confectionery most of all: gummies and marshmallows carry gelatin, the red is often carmine (E120), the shine is often shellac (E904). Baked goods carry E471 and L-cysteine (E920), dairy carries rennet and whey, drinks carry glycerin (E422) and flavorings on an alcohol carrier.
ASK ABOUT THE INGREDIENT YOU JUST SCANNED
Every reading opens Ask AI, a conversation that stays on food, ingredients and additives: what an E-number is made from, why gelatin and rennet sources matter, and what to ask a manufacturer.
YOUR SCANS, KEPT
Every scan is saved on your device with its photograph, so a weekly shop can be worked through a packet at a time. No account to create.
WHO IT IS FOR
• Shoppers where the ingredients panel is the only evidence on the shelf
• Parents checking sweets, gummies, marshmallows, cookies and yogurts
• Anyone who knows the rule and not yet the vocabulary of additives
• Travellers facing a label in a language they cannot read
HONEST ABOUT WHAT A PHOTO CAN DO
This app is an AI reading of the label in your photo. It is not a fatwa and not an official halal certification. Rulings on some additives differ between scholars and certifying bodies, formulations change without notice, cross-contamination cannot be seen on a label, and only what is printed on the pack can be read. If you are under a strict religious obligation or you have an allergy, confirm the full ingredient list and the certification with the manufacturer, a recognized halal authority, or a qualified scholar.
Reading a label needs an internet connection. Readings you have already saved stay on your device and open again at any time.
The app interface and the results are available in 33 languages.
