Harbor - FM-1 Synth Emulator

Harbor turns an Android phone or tablet into an M-VAVE FM-1. It runs the FM-1's own firmwares, unchanged, on an emulation of the FM-1's chip, so each one sounds and behaves as it does on the hardware.

PICK A FIRMWARE
More than seventy firmwares from the FM-1 community: FM and analogue-style synths, grooveboxes, sequencers, samplers, drum machines and ambient generators. Tap Play and Harbor downloads it from its author and boots it. Each firmware is its author's, with its licence shown. M-VAVE's own firmware is bring-your-own: open the .fwsc file you have.

PLAY IT
• The FM-1's panel, drawn to scale: knobs, buttons, the screen and the keys do what they do on the hardware.
• Phone and tablet layouts, portrait and landscape; landscape gives you the whole keybed.
• Play from a USB or Bluetooth MIDI keyboard, from other music apps, or from your computer over USB.
• Harbor shows up as a MIDI instrument for other apps and for your computer.

RECORD IT
Tap the red dot and Harbor records exactly what the firmware plays, straight to a WAV file in your Music folder, ready to share.

KEEPS YOUR WORK
Patterns, presets and settings that a firmware saves are kept per firmware, and you can export and import backups (.fm1save) that work with the fm1-emu emulator too.

SMOOTH ON YOUR PHONE
Harbor plays with low latency. If a heavy firmware is too much for your phone, it lowers the emulated clock until it plays smoothly, and remembers what works.
