Description
Harry's LapTimer is the advanced tool for car enthusiast. It records all types of sensor data provided by your smartphone (or external sensors), combines them, and makes them available to optimize your drive. Over time, you will get insights on your car and in your driving, not known before.
LapTimer offers more than 1000 predefined racing tracks world wide. With its assistants, it is extremely easy to setup - just click your track and drive. It fully automates your lap timing using GPS, and presents the results to all kinds of media.
You are not limited to track driving. For example, you may define your home and working locations as a 'track', collect statistics on different ways chosen, and analyze / optimize the time used every day.
Want to show your drive to your friends? Recorded data can be analyzed using purpose designed views, making it easy to analyze and improve your driving performance. This includes several export formats including Google Earth.
Using online racing, you can use LapTimer in competition. LapTimer offers a Hall of Fame, allows watching you and your friends on track - all in real time. Compare your sector times, braking / acceleration points, and learn from each other.
You can start with your plain smartphone in the beginning and add external GPS and OBD II sensors later, step by step, and as you need it.
Please note that functionality depends on your device, the LapTimer edition chosen, and sometimes even external sensors added (like OBD II). Please visit our web page to get the full story. All edition can be upgraded later.
There are quite expensive stand alone solutions for track days available. Be smart and own the leading edge tool simply by using your Android smartphone. Besides the professional area, there is no known solution that offers more functionality than LapTimer does - across the market. As our ambition is to offer the best tool, LapTimer is enhanced continuously.

This is the GrandPrix Edition of Harry's LapTimer. Compared to Harry's LapTimer Petrolhead, it adds support for remote controlling action cams (HERO3/3+/4 and Sony Cams), Picture in Picture video overlays, an enhanced Engine View, advanced analytics and support for professional data recording sensors.
Important: As a power app, LapTimer is quite demanding in terms of main memory and processing power. The Geekbench benchmark shows a good comparison of current devices and their processing performance. My tests show you need a device scoring 1200 in the MultiCore benchmark to have fun. This means a device like Samsung's S III is kind of the lower end. Especially when recording and overlaying video, go as far up as possible.
In case you have purchased LapTimer Rookie or Petrolhead already, please check the Add-ons view in your existing app for an InApp upgrade to GrandPrix.
Recent changes: User Interface - added option to scroll buttons in case available buttons do not fit screen width - fixed Load Track assistant
Sensor support - added support for Haze GNSS - added OBD support for Hybrid battery SoC plus tank gadget - added heading support for NMEA sensors w/o RMC (like Columbus) - fixed a scripting error in RaceboxMini sensor implementation - made hundreds seconds handling for Racebox Mini more robust - fixed a bug in CSV headers

I love this app. It takes a little bit of time to get set up, but it's well worth it if you want to do any sort of analysis. Reading other reviews on here, it's clear that people are simply not taking this time, and have not tried other massively more expensive telemetry solutions. I can hook up an external 10Hz GPS, an OBD-II Bluetooth dongle, and a GoPro for dual video recording, and it just works! Find me something else that comes close for this price (accessories included) and I'll eat my hat. I show up at the track, mount my phone, turn on my GPS, plug in my OBD-II dongle, and fire up the GoPro, and then just load a track and go! End of session or day, I review. I learn. I go faster! It's amazing, and frequently reminds me that slow is fast as I think I've done a killer lap and then learn I'm actually 1-2s off my pace. Great job Harald, thanks for the very dedicated support, and keep up the good work.

Impenetrable interface I am very used to hi tech gadgets and software and getting the best out of them. I spent a lot of time reading all the haphazardly presented documents and trying it out before my first track day. Suffice to say that on a whole track day I wasted much of the time trying to get the software to talk to the Gopro hero 3+ and record. I only managed to record 2 x 15-min sessions the whole day. A complete waste of money, I wish I could get a refund. I will be buying the new Garmin virb, 1 easy on/off button.

On my phone's built-in GPS the app almost never detects me crossing the
start/finish line but works perfectly on other apps like Track Addict which
is completely free. Not only that but the external camera compatibility is
completely broken. Save some money and look for some other options out
there that happen to be much better, reliable and also completely free.
