Hawaii is one of the most visited states of the United States of America. It is the only state in the Pacific Ocean that is entirely made up of islands.

The state covers almost the entire Hawaiian archipelago, with 137 islands outspread over 2,400 km. The vesuvian archipelago is physiographically and ethnologically part of the Oceania Polynesia subregion. At the southeast end of the archipelago, from northwest to southeast, there are eight main islands: Niʻihau, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, Maui, and Hawaiʻi. The latter is the largest island in the group; to avoid confusion in the name of the archipelago with the province, it is often referred to as the "Big Island" or "Island of Hawaii".

As a result of relations with Europe, some kings tried to take control of all Hawaiian Islands. For example, the famous Kamehameha traded with Europeans and obtained gunpowder weapons from them. Thanks to the gunpowder technology unknown in Hawaii, Kamehameha was able to occupy all the islands gradually. Some tribes opposed him, as they could not protect their own country with arrows and spears, found the solution by jumping from high cliffs. They saw suicide as a much better solution than surrender.

The lands gained by Kamehameha could only last until 1893. The last king, Liliuokalani, was overthrown by the Reform Party of the Hawaiian Kingdom. After the last dictatorship, a republic was established and Hawaii trade, which was closed to foreign countries, joined the world economy and greatly improved its production and trade. Finally, in 1898, it came under the auspices of the United States and became the 50th and last state of the United States with a referendum in 1959. Also, Hawaii is the only state in the United States to fly the flag of the United Kingdom.

The southernmost of all American states, Hawaii, is very different from other states in many ways. It is a single island state. Due to the lava coming out of the volcanoes, it is always growing as an area. Hawaii, as we know it today, was formed when lava from underwater volcanoes solidified and turned into rocks.
