Heating cost calculator

The heating cost calculator uses your consumption and price to show annual and monthly costs, plus cost per square metre when you enter floor area.

How it works
1. Select the energy source and take consumption from a bill covering the period you want to assess.
2. Enter its price and any annual standing charge, checking the unit beside the field.
3. Add floor area for a cost-per-area comparison, then read the breakdown in the result.

Ideal for
A heating estimate needs consumption and price for a matching period. For a heat pump, use the electricity consumed by the unit rather than the heat it delivers. If gas usage is only shown in cubic metres, look for the conversion factor on the relevant bill. A monthly amount derived from annual figures is an arithmetic average, not a prediction of each month's usage.

Features
Depending on your heating system, the app asks for the relevant information:

• Gas and district heating: Consumption in kWh, price in ct/kWh

• Heating oil: Liters per year, price per 100 liters

• Pellets: kg per year, price per ton

• Heat pump: Electricity consumption of the heat pump in kWh and price in ct/kWh. You can read the consumption from the heat pump meter or find it on your electricity bill.

Optionally, you can also enter the annual base price and the living space.

The result shows the annual and monthly heating costs, how the total is divided between consumption and the base price, and, if you include the living space, the cost per square meter.

Gas is usually billed in kWh. If you only have m³, the conversion factor is also shown on the bill.

Your benefits
Energy costs combine consumption charges with the standing charge you enter. The heating cost calculator lets you compare a different price while keeping consumption unchanged. Additional tools cover electricity costs, geometrically estimated tank contents and meter readings. The heating cost calculator does not retrieve tariffs or read bills automatically; the figures come from you. Separate the effect of a price change from that of increased usage when comparing scenarios.

A separate electricity section combines usage, unit price and standing charge into annual and monthly amounts and an effective price per kWh. The tank tool estimates contents from internal dimensions and fill height for rectangular, upright or horizontal tanks. Record electricity, gas and heat meter readings to see consumption between two readings. Check dates and meter units before comparing periods; a tank's geometric volume is a separate quantity from the amount of energy consumed.

Enter consumption, price and standing charge without an account. Your entries and meter readings are saved only on your device so you can continue next time; they are not sent to us. Advertising appears as a small banner at the bottom, with no pop-ups or video ads interrupting the calculation. A one-time purchase permanently removes the banner.
