This is the first thing I would recommend to someone trying to learn Japanese. Twenty minutes a day will get you to consistent accuracy with hiragana quickly, opening up effective paths to further learning. It's difficult to imagine anything better for learning hiragana. note to other users: Some characters are traditionally handwritten differently than they are printed, which is why they look different in the writing practice than in the recognition practice.

It's a great concept, but very glitchy. Some of the lines don't register touch properly when tracing them so you can't ever complete them. け is the buggiest.

I'm totally Japanese and looking for good apps which foreigners can learn exact Japanese. It's almost correct but not perfect especially the upward turn at the bottom of a vertical stroke such as "は" and "な" and the point of letters where we should write it down as well . I hope it will be settled by Japanese. But there are some differences between real handwriting like calligraphy and letters written by device. For example, "さ" which it is showed by your cellphone is you'd be able to write only 2 strokes. But formal way of writing is 3 strokes as this app. I'd be glad to help you who learn Japanese.
