Influent is a Language Learning Game focusing primarily on vocabulary acquisition and pronunciation. It was initially developed in Japan at the University of Tsukuba's Entertainment Computing Laboratory under the Monbukagakusho Government Research Scholarship.
Inspired by Dreamcast titles of old (namely Shenmue and Toy Commander) Influent immerses players in a fully interactive 3D environment where the names for absolutely every object in the game can be gleaned with a single tap! In fact, even more information can be learned with a double-tap! Every door, drawer, and cabinet can be opened with a tap-and-hold, revealing more things to be learned! This app is great for quickly acquiring several hundred words in a language. It will not TEACH the language, but given the single most important aspect of learning a language is word acquisition, it does help a lot. It would be 5 Stars if the space to explore was expanded past your apartment, but hopefully that will be coming in the future. In the meantime, a few bucks for the language of your choice is reasonable... and hopefully the "Polyglot Pack" will make its way here as it is on Steam.

This is so great! I'm using the Japanese language pack. Having the Romaji, Kana & Kanji plus alternative names and audio available for each object is really amazing. So much work must have gone in into this, I don't understand how this doesn't have any reviews and so few downloads. It's honestly a really amazing concept, there's free languages (the French pack is great too!) and the paid for ones are so cheap I honestly feel like I'm cheating the developer. Clearly a labor of love. Thank you!!!

I tried the free Korean as I'm learning Hangul and want more vocab and.... I'm only on the tutorial, and I've hit multiple items in the first 5–10 objects where the audio does NOT match the Hangul and Romanisation for the vocab that's on the vocab card. Or where it offers "2 variants" on the word, but both texts are exactly the same? I'm dubious about the quality and accuracy of language learning happening here for other languages if the free Korean stuff is already so rife with errors....
