IPA Keyboard is the most comprehensive phonetic symbol keyboard around!
- Type IPA for US English for free. - 300+ IPA extension, obsolete, and non-standard symbols can be unlocked via in-app purchase from the keyboard settings.
Apart from the enormous number of easily accessible symbols, IPA Keyboard has a bunch of other great features:
- Modern, material design theme; looks and feels great for typing. - Characters are grouped by related shape or sound, so that all of the IPA symbols are easy to find. - Tabbed keyboards for punctuation, diacritics, tones, and other symbols, separate from the main consonant & vowel keyboard and easy to navigate. - Alternative symbols show right on the keys. Long-press to reveal. There is also a setting to hide the alternatives and reduce visual clutter. - Five different keyboard layouts to choose from (QWERTY, AZERTY, Dvorak, Colemak, and a custom phonetic ordering based on the IPA chart).

Giving minus one stars reasons that all the characters should be in a menu so that one can pick desired characters and make his own keyboard on screen. Please fix it as soon as you can.

It needs more characters to type (especially non-IPA ones like ɏ), and it needs to use the proper characters for certain symbols (like modifier apostrophe ʼ which is distinct from usual apostrophe ’). Beyod that, it's really helpful

It works very well. I think it's the only alternative I've found that actually works, so I'm extremely satisfied. Everything is very intuitive and well organized. Suggestions: not having the dot in the main screen of the keyboard is very inconvenient. Maybe the key for the voiceless glottal plosive (ʔ) could be moved to the upper row. Also, there's a visual buɡ every time the space, backspace, enter and shift keys. Lastly, I miss beinɡ able to dash through the text while holding the space key.

The uvular fricatives, despite being standard IPA symbols representing phonemes present in many languages across the world, is not available in the free version of the app. The premium version is advertised as granting access to extended, nonstandard and obsolete symbols, none of which describe the uvular fricatives. I would have been willing to purchase the upgrade and rate this app highly had this basic feature been available

very, very useless app if you want to write in IPA, first you need to upgrade. Without upgrade you cannot write.

First character I typed asked me to pay to unlock everything. I was under the impression this was a free app, which, mind you, was not straight forward in how to even start using it.
