Is It Vegan is a tool for anyone interested in eliminating animal products from their diet.
Simply scan the UPC bar code on the package of any food or beverage product, and you'll see:
Whether the product is vegan, vegetarian, or neither.
A summary classifying the list of ingredients.
A detail list showing which ingredients are vegan, vegetarian, non-vegetarian, etc.
And the original (unclassified) list of ingredients for the product.
After putting each ingredient into a category, Is It Vegan then decides whether the product is suitable for a vegan or vegetarian diet.
Is It Vegan has information on hundreds of thousands of food and beverage products and verifies each of them using a master list containing thousands of pre-classified ingredients.
Users now have the option to upload products, making our database larger than ever!

Love it. The only downside is that not everything comes up. This helps me save time checking ingredients on new items. Occasionally the ingredients are not quite up to date, so you might have to compare. I've had a couple of items where they must have removed animal ingredients because the non-vegan items were not on current packaging.

This app doesn't deserve the 1.9 stars it has! I'd give it 4 stars just cuz it's database isn't as big as I'd prefer, and the ads can be annoying, but people give it enough credit. It's super great for making quick decisions or if there are a lot of unrecognizable ingredients. I love its flexibility because it includes why it is or isn't vegan/vegetarian and admits when some ingredients are unclear. I recommend trying it if you're vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian without much time.

I use this app often as a double check on ingredients. Sometimes it says not sure which can get annoying. I find it more helpful than it is annoying. If you use it every once in a while as a double check it is great but maybe not for every item. I wish there was an ad free version.

Terrible app. I scan items that are clearly vegan, like Hellman's vegan mayo, and the result is "not sure" on the meter?? Does EVERYTHING get rated "not sure"??? That's just stupid! Not to mention all the ads!!!

Scanned a Jjust Egg product, which is 100% vegan, and it said 'not sure' then immediately went to a video ad
