Description by Jimmy Nelson(from Google Play)
! PLEASE NOTE ! This app uses the latest technology, which can be quite demanding on your device. Therefore, it does not function properly on iPhones 6 or lower. See below for the entire list of compatible devices.
With this Webby Award winning app, developed by Fonk, you will be able to scan every Jimmy Nelson photograph within all Jimmy Nelson books, exhibitions, Cult-ED, media and internet. Scanning an image will bring the picture alive, enabling you to step into the world behind the image. Jimmy himself combined with beautiful video material will guide you through breathtaking behind the scenes footage, but above all uncovers the beauty of day-to-day life from all over the world. Go even deeper into Jimmy Nelson’s photographs with astonishing material that will show you, despite the differences in the way we look, talk and live, we all crave the same thing: a sense of belonging and a sense of being loved.
Homage to Humanity - Virtual Reality The book Homage to Humanity has an extra feature: a Virtual Reality gallery. Scanning one third of a chapter will reward you with access to the Virtual Gallery where you can watch extraordinary 360 film. VR Goggles are provided with the book, but it is also possible to watch without the VR Goggles.
Since 2010 Jimmy has been traveling the world to photograph Indigenous cultures and communities in all the far corners of the world. The people he portrayed show us in many diverse ways what it truly means to be human. Their cultures and traditions often reach centuries, even millennia into the past. Driven by his unique symbiosis of passion, creativity and individual determination Jimmy holds a mirror to us humans, as we find living in a vulnerable junction of time. A time where rapid development, material affluence and new technologies distract us from some of the most profound and timeless truths about human nature.
Join Jimmy on his journey with the Jimmy Nelson app to meet the most iconic Indigenous cultures.
Recent changes: We have added Jimmy's upcoming book Between the Sea and the Sky. The art book will be available for pre-order from June 15th and official release date is September 17th!

Buy the book! It's beautiful. Thanks, Mr. Nelson. Wonderful experience.
★★★★★
Great app! Works both with the book, but I wanted to show a friend and found out images from your screen can be scanned too. So much material, really amazing an add-on for the images!
★★★★★
I do not have the book and found you scan every image of social media if from his new book, it is amazing. They post images every day so lots for me to do without having the book.😊

This app deserves a higher rating. I don't understand why people are having trouble. So even though there might be room for improvement, I am giving it 5 starts for compensation purposes.
★★☆☆☆
Not of much use, it's better to go watch Steve McCarry's works free on his blog
★★☆☆☆
Most of the content is locked, even though I bought the exhibition ticket. Went to Fotografiska, downloaded the app and used it to get the background information on a couple of photos. Everything worked reasonably well, so I thought I'd read more at home later on (I was with friends and didn't want them to wait for me), but apparently all the content of the 280Mb app is locked, except those few photos I looked up while visiting the exhibition. Buying the exhibition ticket should unlock all content, otherwise the app is quite useless, and the whole experience is a letdown.
★★☆☆☆
Useless without the book. I heard this advertised on NPR, and Jimmy said that it doesn't matter if you have the book or not. While technically true, there is no content in the app without access to the book.
★★☆☆☆
I did not find out how to exit the app, restarted my phone to exit. A bit odd that it asks to access the camera & mic of my phone. Why? The project itself is a beautiful one, looks very interesting... it is truly a "companion app" so if you don't have the book, you can't do much with it.
