I've tried every route planner I could find for mountain biking and this was the best in terms of quantity of routes available. The ability to view trail maps while out on the bike even on the free version is great. I like the stats it records also. The app UI is a little award but fine once you get used to it, play around with it at home before you hit the trails!

Long time Trail forks user. Now full time Komoot user, this is the new champ. Works on many devices. Lots of useful features for free, even more useful features for the paid version. But is still usable without paying, unlike Trail forks. Please Komoot don't change to the absolutely asinine Trail forks model.

App is ok when following a recorded route, however it's impossible to plan a cycle route without the app making really weird [update] and useless choices like adding extra roads that have nothing to do with the planned route which are impossible to remove. The maps are not always accurate, even on established paths, when compared to IGN France maps.[end update]. I now really regret my decision to opt for a yearly premium subscription which is too expensive for occasional use.

I couldn't recommend this any less if I tried. The route setting was clearly not done by cyclists; who wants to take 500 turns in a row just to save 20 meters off a direct route. Don't get me started on how much it loves gravel roads and private property. Even on a gravel bike these roads are awful, and when there's a perfectly good bitumen road why not suggest that? There should be a way to reroute with a button if you come across a flooded road, but I suppose that's nothing to consider. don't buy
