Description by Maksim Khoroshilov Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
Lapa is a dog training app that teaches you to train your dog at home: 40 skills in 4 courses, each in 4–6 short steps with a picture. Every step says what you do, with what and why, in plain words. You train with treats and a clicker or the word “yes”, never with punishment.
The courses
• First commands — free, all 8 skills, the dog commands every dog needs: Respond to the name, Sit, Down, Come, Place, Wait, Heel on the leash, Leave it.
• Puppy at home — puppy training for daily life: Potty training; Bed and crate; Alone, bit by bit; Biting in play; Chewing; Jumping on people; Quiet; Calm with guests; Car rides; Paws and brushing.
• Out and about — dog obedience on walks: Loose leash walking, Stay at a distance, Come with distractions, Come away from play, Passing other dogs, Meeting people, Wait at doors and curbs, Give and drop it, Calm at a cafe, Stand.
• Tricks — 12 dog tricks: Paw, Other paw, High five, Spin, Bow, Sit pretty, Roll over, Crawl, Back up, Fetch, Jump over your arm, Leg weave.
How it works
• Each skill has a goal, what you need, the steps, common mistakes and when to move on. The first three courses also say when to stop and see a trainer or a vet.
• All 205 steps have a picture made for this app.
• When a session worked, the skill comes back to “Today” after one to three days, then with growing gaps: 3, 7, 14 and 30 days. Lapa sends no notifications.
• Clicker training: the skill screen has a clicker button, and saying “yes” works too.
• Your dog’s profile holds the name, the date of birth, the breed in your own words and a photo. A skill with an age limit shows a note if your puppy is too young.
Your data stays on your phone
• Lapa has no sign-up, no ads and no analytics. It works offline and has no permission to use the internet. Only the Google Play app goes online, to check the price and your purchase.
• Your progress is one file. Send it to another phone through the “Share” menu, or let Google backup bring it back on a new phone.
Lapa does not replace a trainer or a vet: if your dog growls, bites or is very afraid, see a trainer who works without punishment, or a vet.
What you pay
• The first course stays free, with pictures and repeats. It is not a trial.
• One purchase opens the other three courses — 32 skills — and every skill we add later. You pay once. There is no subscription.
• Before you buy, a paid skill shows its goal, what you need, the pictures of every step and the text of the first step.
The app is in English, Russian and Spanish.
Recent changes:
Lapa is now more dependable. The full course you bought stays open even when Google Play is slow to answer or the phone is offline. If you leave the Google Play window or the camera and come back to Lapa by tapping its icon, that window is still there. A progress file from another phone opens more reliably.
