Learn English: Lessons & Tests

Learn English from your first words to C1 with short lessons, listening, reading, conversation practice and tests. Take a placement test, study ten minutes a day, no sign-up.

English Language Tutor is a structured course, not a phrase list. Each lesson teaches one idea with clear examples, then asks questions to check you understood it. Missed answers come with a reason and return through the Mistake Notebook until they stick.

It suits teens and adults who need English for travel, work, study or daily life. Lessons are written in simple English, so the course fits learners at A2 level and above (see Good to know).

A six-level course
• 75 short lessons in 25 units: Starter, A1 Beginner, A2 Elementary, B1 Intermediate, B2 Upper intermediate and C1 Advanced
• Starter: the alphabet and sounds, greetings, numbers and colors
• A1 and A2: be and have, food, daily routines, directions, shopping, past events, plans and health
• B1 to C1: present perfect, stories, opinions, reported speech, conditionals, workplace English, idioms and academic discourse

Practice every skill
• Listening: hear sentences in your phone's US English voice at slow, normal or fast speed
• Reading: short passages followed by comprehension questions
• Conversation: choose your replies in everyday dialogues and read feedback on each choice
• Speaking: say a sentence aloud and check it with your phone's speech recognition
• Multiple choice, true or false, typing, ordering and matching, with a short "why" after every answer

Words and reference
• A deck of 516 words from Starter to C1 with flashcards that use spaced repetition
• Word bank and timed sprints
• Pronunciation guide: sounds, word stress, rhythm and intonation for American English
• Grammar quick reference and an everyday phrasebook
• Offline search across lessons, words and reference pages

Know where you stand
• A placement test finds your starting level
• Unit tests, level exams for A1 to C1 and a weekly mastery test
• Daily Challenge: seven questions, the same all day, with a streak bonus
• Review sessions for words and rules you are about to forget
• Insights: weekly goal ring, minutes and XP chart, accuracy by topic

Make it a habit
• Daily goal, streak, XP and levels
• Study reminders that stay quiet once you meet your goal
• A home screen widget with your streak
• Level certificates and a progress card to share
• Light and dark themes, sound effects and haptics you can switch off

Good to know
• Lessons, tests, flashcards and search work without an internet connection.
• Progress is stored on your device only. Uninstalling the app or changing phone clears it.
• Listening uses the text-to-speech voice built into your phone, so quality varies by phone. The app has no recorded voices and no pronunciation scoring.
• The app interface and lessons are in English, with simple instructions and no translations. Starter is gentle, but total beginners may want a dictionary.
• It is a study aid, not an official exam or a promise of a level.
