Description
Have you experienced eye strain, headache, migraine or other symptoms from being exposed to flickering lights or screens? Use this app to measure which lights or screens are flickering and how much and which are flicker-free!
This app measures flickering of light that are flickering/blinking so quickly so that we cannot usually see it with our eyes. But it can still have a negative affect on us - eye strain, headaches, migraines and even epilepsy seizures are reported as consequences of flickering lights. With this app you can measure if your LED lamps, LED bulbs, fluorescent tube lights and screens are flickering and how much.
How to Use the App? Place the phone in a position so that the camera is facing a surface, such as a white paper, an evenly colored wall or a floor, that is lighten by the light source you want to measure the flickering from. It is very important to let the phone stand still during the measurements as movement can cause the meter to measure a too high flickering value.
What is a Flickering Percentage? The percentage flickering is the apps estimation of the difference between the maximum and minimum light output from a light source. A flickering measurement value of 25% means that the minimum light varies between 75% and 100% light output. A light that switches off completely in each cycle will have a flickering measurement of nearly 100%. A light that does not vary in light output will have a flickering measurement of nearly 0%.
How Accurate are the Measurements? As long as the phone during measurements is standing absolutely still, without any movements and are directed towards an even surface, the accuracy seems to be within plus/minus five percentage points under normal circumstances on most devices.
The app now supports 40 different languages.

Works, was able to detect that a LED strip was flickering a lot. Fixed by adding 10000uF capacitor on driver output side. According to app flickering decreased from 97% to 38%. And the eye strain I could previously feel when observing the light was gone. And now I know to avoid that brand of led drivers. Useful for detecting flickering beyond what the eye can perceive, above 60hz or so.

It's not scientifically accurate, but it really worked for me. The camera app cancels out flicker automatically, so it was nice to see the picture without that. The paywall can be closed, you can use the app for free. I have a quite good camera, not sure if it works on cheap/old phones. I changed some light bulbs, thanks!

Very helpful to see if any particular LED lights cause flickering. Don't know how accurate the measurement is but nonetheless even a rough estimate is helpful to know.

Doesn't work. Shows sunlight and known flickering LED light as about the same flicker frequency

1. App is listed as free, and it's only free for 2 weeks after which requires license fee. Developer responded to my previous rating and comment by adding note about "a few weeks" trial period ("a few" == 2?) and keeping app listed as free. 2. Whatever the developer did after responding to me, my rating and comment disappeared  reposting with update here 2. After developer response it's still not clear why calibration is required - it's rather poor quality.

Not accurate for lights known to flicker 90+% at 120Hz. This app reads <10% for those lights, so it is basically useless

There are apparently 0 usable features unless I pay $7 or sign up for a subscription. Is this a free app, or is this a paid app? If it's free, there need to be features that are free. If it is paid, put the price on the play store. I've never seen a free app that's unusable unless you pay before. Update due to dev comment: I had just installed the app, and it's only offering a "free trial" if I sign up for a subscription. That's what you're advertising as "free for a limited time?"
